That actually gets me wondering...

I wonder how much McQuinty or whoever has been contracted to advise Mr. Carney's government, versus what they were getting from Trudeau??

Hmmmmmmm...

Canada’s tourism sector generated a record-breaking amount of revenue of between May and August, reaching $59 billion, a six per cent increase compared to the same period last year.

Most of the revenue was the result of Canadians choosing to spend their travel dollars within the country, as domestic tourism was up seven per cent. Revenue from international travellers remained strong, particularly from overseas markets, which increased by 10 per cent, according to new figures released by Destination Canada on Thursday.
Going to be interesting what the snowbird numbers look like come winter, but based on everything seen this year, I dont think the sunbelt states will be having a good time

I have seen lots of advertisements directly aiming at getting Canadians to come back.

Personally, I have no issue traveling to the US; I also don't have a reason too at the moment.
Yup. Nothing recreational in the U.S. attracts me enough to give them my travel money discretionarily at present or for the foreseeable future. In the past few years on various vacations I’ve road tripped from Ottawa to Vancouver Island, PEI, and Cape Breton. We have so much to see and do here.

NZ v Ire this weekend in Chicago was tempting.

But I was away at an old boys tournament last weekend in Montreal.

Can highly recommend the Yukon!

A lot of places taking economic hits and their other sources like Europeans ate not coming either. I did read that Florida though is trying hard to increase their numbers by targeting Brazilians who are I think the second biggest number after Canada.

My last trip was Alaska 2 years ago. I likely won’t be travelling there (the US) anytime soon as I’ve already hit my bucket list items from there (more than once in some cases).

My travel budget this year is aimed at Niagara on the lake for some brewery and wine touring and a southern Caribbean island this winter.

Booked a British isles trip next year with is planning a trip to PEI.

But people can decide for themselves what they want to do. I have no desire to go but I won’t bemoan anyone’s choices on going to the US or not.

AUPE also begins voting today on striking. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but would this not make the count 3 out of 4 healthcare unions in Alberta wanting to strike on top of all this?

Shouldn't this be in the Albert Gov thread ?

And the only men who wear less than the Quebecois in a Speedo.

Was it for outdoorsy stuff?
The first time yes. Did a Yukon Alaska trip.

The second time was a cruise to Alaska. Great trip.

Two road trips to Gettysburg, Vegas once, New York, Disney Cruise and park in Florida and a few trips to see family in SC (did not like that place when I went).

Not counting the many work related trips but those don’t count.

Voluntary departures may be all the people that are actually useful and burnt out.

Lot of the people in the long service time (including lot of veterans) that are critical for getting all the new people sorted, and institutional knowledge

Why?

Sure, but the people that can typically win those kind of arguements may be empire building wanna be mandarins, not actual useful business lines that are critical to get stuff done. Also, if you are somewhere that still has redundancy, vice less than minimum needed, you may be a unicorn.

And it won’t get better for them. Not with the kind of cuts that are anticipated,

If that knowledge hasn’t been passed on after the 35 years they’ve been in then maybe they are the empire builders. That’s a knowledge transfer problem.
Reclassify? Because we likely have directors doing manager work and so on. Levels may not be appropriate for certain jobs. Assess and calibrate appropriately.

Possibly, but DRAP 2.0 or random cuts won’t work.
