Case in point, PP is still leading the CPC today.Youd also have to expect MPs to put loyalty to the country above all, and I dont think very many of them do that.

He should have.He should have stepped down election night 2025, yes.
He should have.
But barring that, he's so far down in the polls that his party should be forcing him out the door, but they seem content in their mediocrity.
2024When did this occur? 2017 or 2024? For context I’m asking this.
How so? He was a Liberal MP.Another casualty of Poilievres leadership.

Liberal MP to resign following car crash that caused ‘significant health issues’
With several byelections already pending, Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to call another after Liberal MP Shaun Chen has announced his resignation.www.ctvnews.ca
and give the press 3 years to tear apart another pc leader. Better to wait another 2 years and let them expend their bile where it can't hurt. The fact that we agree makes me feel so gross.

With the exception of O'Toole, it has been well deserved. The Party keeps choosing unelectable ass-clowns as leader. I fervently want the CPC to do well....once they get serious about their leadership - on that day, they likely get my vote.and give the press 3 years to tear apart another pc leader. Why though? But barring that, he's so far down in the polls that his party should be forcing him out the door, but they seem content in their mediocrity.
Because Carney doesn't have to wait 3yrs. He could wait to Oct of 2027 IF CUSMA is resigned and the economy is doing well, as an example. A number of seats could become vacant and he drops below a majority by 2-3 seats and he rolls the dice. Why though?
What are the benefits of replacing Poilievre 3 years before an election?
Ignoring personalities, giving a leader two election cycles is a reasonable ask; there's a learning curve. Constant leadership churn makes strategic direction difficult. Scheer and O'Toole both being one and done suggests that the CPC learned nothing from the LPC implosions and churn that helped keep Harper as PM.With the exception of O'Toole, it has been well deserved. Hurry up and pick a new leader and give the LPC up to 3 years time worth of distraction and character assassination against the off chance the LPC calls an election sooner? I would think Canadians wouldn't appreciate Carney playing election games - that same gamble didn't work out for Trudeau's dirtbag covid election attempt.Because Carney doesn't have to wait 3yrs. Oct of 2027 puts Carney 2.5yrs into a mandate. He rolls the dice and looks for another 4yrs, which would put him 1yr less than the US election of 2032.
And Doug Ford’s mid-term majority refresh to a full-term mandate was a different political space (greater electoral homogeneity within Ontario than all across Canada).Hurry up and pick a new leader and give the LPC up to 3 years time worth of distraction and character assassination against the off chance the LPC calls an election sooner? However on the flip side, lets say we get another federal election and Pierre loses again. Do you keep him on still or toss him? Internally he seems to be doing well but if they decided to keeo him after another election loss. Or with Harper during this time period. But it did work out for Ford. I think he's lose a lot of the current votes he had if he decided to make himself look like her - maybe get his teeth rearranged (I'm sure someone would be willing to punch him in the mouth a few times) but gender reassignment surgery would definitely upset the (alleged) Christian right wing and anti-LGBTQ2i folks that are taking over things...Or he can go full Elizabeth May, and try to retain the leadership and repeatedly overthrow his replacements to try to hold on to an increasingly irrelevant party. Bonus points if that strategy involves Black Hills Nota Bene 2023.
