Didn't we try this with Stellantis ?

The federal government will introduce legislation this fall that will indefinitely extend the ban on access to a medically assisted death for people who are only suffering from a mental illness, Justice Minister Sean Fraser said on Wednesday.
"Canada has made a decision not to move forward with the expansion that is scheduled in the Criminal Code of medical assistance in dying in circumstances where mental illness is the sole basis," he said in the foyer of the House of Commons.
Fraser said the promised legislation will also "open the door" for people to give advance consent for their own medically assisted death in circumstances where the illness they are suffering from will eventually eliminate their capacity to make that decision.
The minister explained that while the details of advance consent will be worked out in House of Commons committees, it will require a person's illness to be incurable and result in intolerable suffering.
Quebec already does advanced consent so probably copying their model

GDP per capita tends to be a garbage measure for abstracts like ‘living standards’, as it fails to capture actual income of individuals or families or the distribution thereof. GDP is a measure of macroeconomic activity, but it doesn’t tell you what actual human people are bringing home, and what they can afford to spend it on. It also fails to capture any measure of income inequality. It’s prone to significant skewing in the distribution of who actually has what.

The Fraser Institute burying the lede. How shocking.
I can also cherry pick something that tells a very different story with something HDI at the sub-national level in North America.

GDP/capita is also a shit measure of societal well-being. If country of 10 people has nine people making 50,000 a year and one making 500,000 then the GDP per capita of 95,000 isnt very useful and that phenomenon is responsible for a large part of that GDP gap sub-nationally.
That said, Im all in on recognizing we need to improve our national productivity and output.
Exactly why its crap for AB to because we have the largest gap between income groups in the country. Top 20% make more then the rest of AB combined which will heavily skew the per capitaThe Fraser Institute burying the lede. How shocking.

Sooo some here totally missed the point, again.
At me next time lolSooo some here totally missed the point, again.
Do tell what you mean by that? How should Canadian provinces have a higher GDP per capita than US states? Whats your plan, legit critique, gut feeling? With competent leadership in federal government, all those provinces should be well above most or all states.
What does this mean? How does cost of living play into this when the worst CoL crises in North America are in the states that hold the number 1 and 4 slots respectively? Perhaps youre on board with my point that GDP per capita is of minimal utility? And the reality is very much there for what this graph places most of our provinces. Food, housing, employment, ability to have children, etc are in a very poor state for most of Canada.
Believe whatever you want.
What specific measures would the Feds have to take, right now, to to have a lasting effect within 12 months?Sooo some here totally missed the point, again.

Which is the first consistently 'Red state' in terms of Presidential and Senate/Congress on this list? Is it Minnesota, flips back and forth? Pretty certain that the bottom 10 are consistently labelled as 'Red' states.
No, we aren’t missing the point. The claim made relied on data that was presented deceptively and that does not measure what the claim suggests it measures. Some of us get that, you fell for it.Sooo some here totally missed the point, again.

Interestingly enough the Feds have taken a few initial steps that would help achieve this; Fast track major projects, and eliminate internal trade barriers, for example. However, saying it and doing it are different... none of those have actually happened yet... but maybe when they do we'll see something. This of course assumes there are no long drawn out legal pushbacks. What specific measures would the Feds have to take, right now, to to have a lasting effect within 12 months?
First, its about moving the needle in the right direction. And that takes years. The sooner the better. What specific measures would the Feds have to take, right now, to to have a lasting effect within 12 months?
Yup, announcements alone are not enough. Liberals make lost of promises and excuses but are short on results.Fast track major projects, and eliminate internal trade barriers, for example. However, saying it and doing it are different... none of those have actually happened yet.
