    Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

It's Monday? POTUS has indigestion from some bad freedom fries? Kentucky bourbon distillers are complaining? US needs a distraction from $5/gallon gas? Xi and Putin shared a call, then told their useful idiot that he hadn't done enough damage to the West yet?

17 May 2026: Two EA-18 Growlers crash at Mountain Home AFB air show

AUS paid about $125M USD per unit, a few years ago, and as far as I know that didn't include most spares and tooling. There's a range of prices from $67-125M per unit... they are not cheap.

Indirect Fires Modernization Project - C3/M777 Replacement

If folks decide to skip the 2-3 weekends a year where they use the real equipment, them quitting is not a net loss. The Army Reserve needs embrace quality over quantity.

Indirect Fires Modernization Project - C3/M777 Replacement

Sims are part of a trading system, not the totality of it. Working out the awkward bits in advance on sims lets the real equipment be used for more advanced training/ reinforcement.

Angus Topshee, outspoken head of Canada's navy, promoted to vice chief of defence staff

I'm saying that the CAF leadership model favours the loudest person in the room, not the person who collaborates with the room. The VCDS very much has to have that skill. CAF leadership views strategic horizons measured in months. The VCDS is working on horizons measured in decades. VCDS is...

Informing the Army’s Future Structure - CAMO Discussion

The Army does not control the establishment of the CAF. If the Army was unable to justify their proposed structure to the VCDS (responsible for the CAF establishment) then the extant 2 Div Comd position would be recycled.

Angus Topshee, outspoken head of Canada's navy, promoted to vice chief of defence staff

The Venn diagram between "learned their lesson and quieted down" and "NWOs who fail" is a null set.

The first CANFORGEN announcement was just released yesterday, I suspect a press release is working its way through the labyrinth of Public Affairs approvals.

Angus Topshee, outspoken head of Canada's navy, promoted to vice chief of defence staff

VCDS is a future looking, collaboration position. NWOs are fight today and give orders. Steve Kelsey was an accidental VCDS and has seen the CAF get unprecedented funding and increased authorities... In no small part because of his experience in force development and collaboration.

Angus Topshee, outspoken head of Canada's navy, promoted to vice chief of defence staff

VCDS is the bureaucratic face of the CAF with the central agencies of government (PCO, TBS, Finance, PSPC, ISED...) It's an institutional leadership role, not a command role. NWOs as a rule do not fare well in institutional leadership roles, as they require skills not prioritized in RCN...
