2025 Federal Election - 28 Apr 25

Ouch - especially considering a survivor appears to be running for Team Red.

Not huge, but more than just a few “not huge’ things can pile up into “looky here.”
Nothing like getting your politican career started by big boss butchering your name and getting the name of the school you based your whole identity on wrong.

On the other hand he is a big shot "European" banker. She should be happy just to get acknowledged.

ive got no use for her anyways. A vulture feeding off a tragedy. But this could be one of those elections where the shine comes off right after the voting

Would you prefer the new york times?

Cbc?

National observer?

Would you like more?

Sure, go for it.

Shall be known as "Flubber" ;)

Carney says he knows his new riding well, but flubs reference to local neighbourhoods

'Did you bother looking at a map of your riding? Bells Corners is not in your riding'

Not surprising.

Flubber or Fibber?

Assuming we know the non-conversation-conversation hapoened, cool enough. If we don’t know if it happened, from the outside looking in, how different would it look than Arya?
Yeah, he’s well past the “I would have had to sign an NDA to get my clearance” malarkey phase. Get it already, FFS…

I’m sure had he known how this would go he would have just quietly renewed his old clearance and gotten the briefings. Instead he committed himself to pretending it would gag him and that parliamentary privilege isn’t a thing that exists that would let him speak unfettered within Parliament, including but not limited to Question Period. He’s full of shit, he knows he’s full of shit, all of the party leaders and cabinet know he’s full of shit, his own chief of staff and his party’s NSICOP members know he’s full of shit, tens of thousands of Canadians with a security clearance and bound by SOIA or the former Official Secrets Act know he’s full of shit, but a lot of his supporters don’t have the knowledge or experience to realize how thoroughly full of shit he is, so they lap it up. He basically picked a dumb story and committed to it, and now I guess he feels he has to stay committed rather than make the mature decision. There’s still five weeks of election, and the national security threats to Canada won’t suddenly be less of an issue because there’s an election. But anyway, it is what it is, the die is cast.

The article is mostly a rehash of what we already know. The last paragraph is what puts doubt on the G&M article

India’s alleged meddling in Tory race won’t affect chilled relations: former CSIS chief

National security leaks are rare in Canada. They’re even more rare during fraught election campaigns.

So the allegations, delivered by the Globe and Mail on Tuesday, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) assessed the Indian government meddled in the 2022 Conservative leadership race came as a shock in the early days of this general election.

Citing a single unnamed source with top-secret clearance, the Globe reported that agents of the Indian government and their proxies meddled in the race that saw Pierre Poilievre elected leader.

<‐------>

Elcock said he does not believe the leaked information came from Canada’s intelligence community, who are generally very cautious about being seen to influence the country’s political process in any way.

Sure but let's put Pierre's India ties on the table too and let Canadians decide. Right now Pierre has more direct links to India while a lot of the accusations against Carney and China are here say at best.
Liberal Khalistan's enter chat and take over the room, hissing at the Hindus and Muslims

It's not, I'm just being facetious.

I think the people (in general) making the most noise about Poilievres security clearance are also the same ones who said 'nothing to see here' when CSIS first brought the foreign interference allegations forward against the government. For some reason Liberal supporters thought it was waste of time.
Maybe with partisan Liberal hacks. As someone who has been banging on forever about Beijing’s influence, interference, and intimidation campaigns, I’m also alarmed that Poilievre isn’t taking this issue more seriously. It seems odd that he’s not interested in knowing what’s going on in his own party. It’s like he wants to be wilfully blind, which Trudeau, at best, was.

Foreign powers are going to have a hay-day during this election.

It was probably quite the shock for her to realize her victim-status meant fuck all to him. PolySeSouvient's usual threats arent gonna work like they did on Trudeau.

If he wins the election I think it's a good sign the bullshit virtue signaling won't be present.

…or at least your SKS will still be safe…

I can also be put in exactly this box. I find both highly concerning.

Perhaps true but still the “new” Liberals have not repudiated the previous Liberals gun control policies though.

No point in getting into a fight where they don’t need to. So long as they don’t list the SKS, they’ll get away with following other OICs with changed legislation when the time is right.
