2025 Federal Election - 28 Apr 25

There is also the not unrealistic possibility that people were also outside...
There was a shit ton of people outside. Tons.

We got there 30 minutes before the rally was to start and had to walk a fair ways due to all the cars. When we left, we noticed a not inconsequential sized crowd outside

You know who I didn't ever hear answer a single question with a simple, direct answer? Trudeau nor Freeland.

The media put up with 10 years of pre-screened questions, non-answers, and just verbal nonsense from the LPC...

But all of a sudden seem to be reporting how bad Pierre is for answering questions??
100%

They can fuck right off. They smiled away when those two clowns meandering their non-answers like it was perfectly fine. They never tried to hold them accountable.

I can’t believe it has to be explained that rally crowd size =\= electoral victory. Someone is drawing big crowds does not necessarily mean they are particularly popular amongst the wider population. It just means they have a more intense devotion amongst their supporters in certain areas where party machines choose to hold rallies that may or may not translate into more votes than their opponents. If I recall correctly, Jack Layton was drawing large crowds, but he didn’t come close to defeating Harper.
Given how much work it seems to be to get such things organized, they'd have to be sure about getting a decent crowd, hence that bit in yellow.

Why are you distracting us from the real issue? PP is sometimes mean to reporters! Also, it's kinda racist to talk about Chinese interference/influence in the LPC...
If only PP could get his security clearance he would be able to unravel this whole influence thing. There's no other MP who can do it, the whole influence thing is actually on his shoulders.

On a side note: perhaps PP could gain some ground if he tackled the Kingfisher fiasco from an adult viewpoint i.e. providing proper equipage and sufficient real a/c to keep the Canadian population safe. If he does it without rancor as in simply acknowledging that a mistake was made and he will ensure that corrective action is taken.

Trust, Change, and Uncertainty: What’s Really Shaping the Canadian Vote?

What’s Driving the Vote? How Issues Are Shaping Canada’s 2025 Election

With the federal election underway, two issues have taken centre stage: affordability and Donald Trump. Affordability leads, with 34% of Canadians saying the cost of living will most influence their vote, while 19% cite Trump’s impact on Canada – highlighting how global uncertainty is shaping domestic decisions. The Conservatives lead among those focused on affordability (40% vs. 33% Liberal), while the Liberals dominate among voters prioritizing Trump’s impact (51% vs. 28% Conservative).

Still, nearly half of Canadians (47%) say another issue will be most important when they vote – proving that while affordability and Trump dominate the headlines, many voters are focused elsewhere. Among these other top issues, the Conservatives are favoured on jobs and the economy, taxes, and public safety, while the Liberals lead on healthcare, housing, climate change, and Canada-U.S. relations.

One of the biggest effects on our economy is Trump, so those first two issues are highly correlated, ergo, advantage Lieberals.

Putting this here, since the foreign interference thread is for general threats, and Sam Cooper makes a link to China’s intent to influence the Canadian election (yet again…)

Carney on guns, the only thing I like is saying the RCMP should be the ones classifying, but the damage is already done. If he truely believes that, he needs to revoke every OIC ban then just say "The RCMP will review their classification"

Apparently the LPC aren't too comfortable with their lead in the polls, or they wouldn't be bringing out the big guns. What's next? Abortion?

Thanks, I was having a great day.
