2025 Federal Election - 28 Apr 25

Shes got a couple of weeks to pull it together. Best hope for a good debate from PP and a bad one from Carney
What's a good debate, and how is the war room defining it?

I don't think there's enough time (or an appetite) to redefine Poilievre in any sort of way that will land as genuine. And I don't think the two of them have the faintest clue as to actually sell their vision and bring undecided voters into wanting a Poilievre government on it's merits.

That leaves only one path- convince the undecided that they would rather have a Poilievre government than a Carney one. And that's not going to be accomplished with the same approach as playing to their base.

Carney on guns, the only thing I like is saying the RCMP should be the ones classifying, but the damage is already done. If he truely believes that, he needs to revoke every OIC ban then just say "The RCMP will review their classification"

Oh wow...Just wow...

I mean there are promises made during elections, and then there is THIS!! He's reached the highest level of speaking politician!

Congrats Carney, it didn't take you long at all!

1000 more RCMP & CBSA. Each! 🤣🤣🤣

You can't make this stuff up folks! 🤣🤣

I’ll just point out what a colleague at work pointed out when he announced this.

“Recruit 1,000 more RCMP personnel”

Note that it doesn’t say “officers”. Maybe that is what he meant and that isn’t outside the realm of impossibility either but it was an interesting différenciation from the CBSA pledge of 1000 more CBSA Officers.

a good debate would move the needle on the polls significantly. I dont expect the debates to be good from a information standpoint or for that to influence polling. Polling and eventual voting is the goal

Yeah, he's just stepped on an elevator and risen to the pinnacle of every organization he's been in by not be able to handle himself in a boardroom.

Question his ties to China.
seems fair, but people with money are going to invest it
Question whether he can temper his climate zealotry to match what Canada needs in this moment.
backing away from a position for pure practical political expediency
Question whether he really believes in pivot to the centre he's been showing or if it's sham.
guys a central banker, its right in the title
Question whether he can pull it off without ceding too much to the far left element of the party.
the party and MPs do what they are told by the PMO/PM. Why would this be different?
All good questions.

Questioning his intelligence and competence at operating at the highest levels of the corporate and international world? Partisan childishness and /or willful ignorance.
bit of a perfect storm that has caught the CPC. In any other world/country i think Carney would be running for the CPC???

Same.

I suspect the same mistake is going to be made where Trudeau went into his first debate with Harper and the CPC thought it would be slaughter and he ended up doing better than expected. The same is likely with Carney if comments here are any indication.

PP won’t be in a controlled environment like he is now when facing reporters. And his attack dog style will probably turn off moderates if he takes that route.

Carney could look bad if he gets flustered as he will be the principle target for everyone.

Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Paul Wells puts a pox on all their houses. Whether your team Red, Blue, Orange, Quebec Blue, or Green there is a rot in the system and I don’t think anyone in a position of influence wants to change it.

Part 2. Hits at the inability to make a decision, the cult of personality, and pleads to the public to GTFO Twitter.

And I just learned both Nanos and EKOS received over $200,000+ last year from our federal government. Mmmm, might explain why the polls are ALL over the place. Not to mention the new pollsters that suddenly showed up for this election.
Public polls done by these same companies you’re mentioning have been showing a biggish Tory lead since PP took over as Blue coach a couple of years ago, right up to when JT said buh-bye. You saying they didn’t get the memo that they weren’t supposed to show an up-to-25-point lead for Team Blue?

And why did everybody else’s polling (those dozen or so other firms all aggregated on Canada338, all doing polls different ways - phoning people, texting people, online) also show a Blue lead?

I have zero expectations that Carney will fulfill any of the promises he's making. Well, except those that will be to our detriment. Digital currency, Net Zero and a globalist WEF agenda. He certainly doesn’t seem very contrite about all the lies he's told so far.
