2025 Federal Election - 28 Apr 25

It's not unique to you or your feeds. They are all in the sights of their opposition. I lost count of the amount of liberal trolls I've banned/ blocked from my feeds.

"Left wing groups spamming social media ahead of the vote, can easily confirm my feeds are filled with posts bashing the Conservatives more than anything else. Mostly from clearly bot accounts."

If you know they are bots, why concern yourself? If it really bothers you there's tons of info out there that tell you how to deal with bots.

Being on the left, at least you don't need to worry about the Chinese complaining about your candidate.😉
You assume I'm on the left just because I support carney, however I consider my self to be in the center. I've voted conservative every election till this one, Pierre is a disaster of leader with a terrible platform. You are right that it can go both ways but I posted an analysis showing right now the majority (80%) are favoring the cpc, bot or not its a controlled operation to change and mold public opinion. Which can have a major effect in elections just look at the Romanian election

They are nimby bullshit artists. Some neighbourhoods the juice just isnt worth the squeeze- due to infrastructure, topography etc.

But show me the person that tells you that taking 10% of land area of a given post war or later suburban neighbouhood and increasing the housing density by 2 or 3 times while staying within (or close) the same building envelope guidance (number of stories etc) and trying to blend in architecturally will certainly and irredeemably change the "character" of the entire neighbourhood, and I'll show you someone peddling hyperbole for gain

Ok

Maybe one day. After they install sidewalks. < smile emoji

Some interesting numbers here about the priority of voters, shows the economic threat from the US is top of mind.
Rightly so. Direct or indirect economic damage caused by Trump’s wild flailing on trade is probably the single greatest real life impact Canadians will feel. It’s reasonable for it to be top of mind.

A controlled operation because you don't like the numbers? How many polls should I post showing Carney and the liberals in the lead? Is that also a controlled operation? Designed to enlist a compliant MSM to mold public opinion? How about the Chinese interference supporting the liberals? Is that not a controlled operation to change and mold public opinion?

I consider myself also in the centre or close to it, but voting for my local Conservative candidate.

I simply can't fathom another four years of Trudeau on steroids, led by an elite globalist who has consistently and constantly lied to Canadians since suddenly appearing on the Canadian scene after many years out of country. A financial advisor to trudeau's draconian policies and spending. The one that suggested freezing bank accounts and enacting the emergency act. The one that refuses to disclose his financial status and needs special screens for his involvement with Brookfield. One that tells us he's turned his back on a lifetime of beliefs and policies and he's not a bad guy anymore. The one that says we need to leave 75% of our fossil fuels in the ground, but when with Brookfield bought pipelines and petroleum operations around the world.

Sorry, I digress. That is my opinion.

Much like the claims you make against Poliviere.

To recap, just because you don't like the numbers doesn't mean it's an info op.

Most people I've spoken to haven't got Trump at the top of their list. Economy, taxes, carbon schemes, national debt and health care. Yes.

Trump and tariffs? Some auto workers, but not all. My daughter works at Ford. She's more worried about making ends meet not tariffs.

YMMV.

Who wants a sidewalk? Other people might use it and come near me…

Frankly I don’t know anyone who would want to live in a non detached house.
Neither do I, but they are out there - in numbers. People who quite pointedly want to live in a downtown condo or apartment, Even better if it is directly connected to other amenities like transit or underground malls like Toronto's PATH system. No intention to own a vehicle, maybe not even have a d/l and the ideal vacation is to visit another city.

Not anymore. You still need permits to build, you just send them to the province (still has to meet building code minimums, no restriction on what you build where). 2021 they changed the law so they could appoint inspectors to unincorporated land where before it was the law requiring permits but no way of enforcing them.
And if you want to connect to the grid, you will need an electrical inspection, most likely a septic permit from the local health unit and a well permit from the MOE unless you draw from the lake.

Well, it's just after midnight on Friday. I think I'll slide out of here, let my blood pressure and brain settle until the results are in Monday night. Cheers for the discussions and info. Assuming this one will be closed when the polls open Monday, see you Tuesday in a new thread.🫡

Those aren’t people. They are some sort of Sheep hybrid.

I’d personally rather be off the grid, but I can’t get a well here as my county enjoys screwing people over with county water (but no sewer system)

Banning the purchase of ICE vehicles in 10 year's time shows a distinct lack of appreciation for the climactic conditions and distances faced by the rural popopulation.
They don't care about us.

If the LPC forms the next Government, I view that as a pretty resounding mandate that Canadians are happy with and want a continuation of the status quo.

Personally, I wouldn't be happy with that decision but what can one do? Politically speaking, I see Western Canada drifting further away from Eastern Canada and I see a unity crisis on the horizon in this Country. I think the unity crisis is coming regardless of who forms the next Govt in Ottawa.

Downtown parking spaces have sold for upwards of $175, 000. With a monthly maintenance fee of $55.

It really blows my mind that Quebec separatists just don't understand how screwed they would be if they separated from Canada. The First Nations territories have already stated that if Quebec separated from Canada then they could separate from Quebec. That would mean that Quebec would have to import the electricity it uses to power its heavy industry and lose much of the land where it extracts natural resources.

Also, rather than being a province with 7 million francophones in a bilingual country of 40 million they would be an island of 7 million francophones surrounded by 370 million non-francophones. Nobody outside Quebec will want to accommodate their language and all their trade will have to be in English out of necessity.

Separation from Canada would greatly accelerate the destruction of Quebecois culture and language. I think the Bloc and PQ realize that but leverage the fear of separation in the rest of Canada to get accommodations that the rest of the Provinces would have a much more difficult time getting.

When I was living in Victoria, I met a lot of people that wanted this. I found it weird and I'll be honest, I think it's a manufactured want. When someone mentions the 15 minute city, this is what I think of:

I agree.

I agree with all of what you said there.

That's because Que separation is an emotional outburst with little practicality. Que would be an abject failure as a independent state.

That's difference between the west and Que. The West has something to offer. Que would just be a drain on someone else social spending.

After electoral reform we need legislation to keep parties like BQ from being able run federally.
