I'm just trying to reconcile some aspects about the Inflection Point 2025 and 1 Div.
The CAMO sets an LOE 4 Force generation objective 4.6 CAF Tactical Aviation Integrated into the CA and at Annex A pictures a notional Avn Bde under OPCON to 1 Div.
Regardless of my views as to whether or not an aviation bde should be part of a div structure (whether opcon or something else) what are the current capabilities that exist within 1 Wing (Aviation) and 2 Wing (expeditionary support) vis a vis:
1. the six TacHel sqns of 1 Wing to be able to operate under austere field conditions: items such as command, control, communicate elements, field capable maintenance elements, infrastructure (housing kitchens etc), vehicles and other equipment other than helicopters;
2. 2 Wing for providing a functional, sustainable austere operating environment for an expeditionary deployed aviation brigade;
3. How many simultaneous expeditionary operations can 2 Wing support - for example an aviation bde to Latvia; a forward strategic/tactical airfield (e.g. UK) for air movement operations to Latvia; a forward element to the Arctic or other homeland defence support operations?
PM me if you don't want to post in the open.
