As disturbing as it was, it clearly showed this to be an execution. Or, to be charitable, ill trained, ill disciplined goons who couldn’t get hired at a McDonald’s with itchy trigger fingers needlessly killing someone.
The odd thing about a potential NG deployment against Federal agents is the weird position it would put the senior members of the NG where they are technically State level, but they certainly have a significant amount of Federal oversight.
The situation doesn't exist in Canada, but it would be like trying to figure out if your main alegence is to HM the King in Right of Canada or HM the King in Right of Ontario.
It has a very Game of Thrones feel to it, but the courts can influence who can call the banners.

Clearly this group of ICE officers are out of control. And I mean the entire ICE brigade sent to Minnesota needs to be redeployed somewhere else for retraining. That is exactly how it works when you are deployed in aid to civil powers in Canada, Kilted.
For Octoberfest (FLQ crisis), the troops in Quebec answered to the Crown in right of Quebec, that is the Lt-Governor as advised by the Premier, under the supervision of the Quebec Minister of Justice. The troops deployed in Ottawa remained under the Crown in right of Canada.
For the Oka crisis, again we took our orders from the Government of Quebec Department of the Attorney General.
For the Ice Storm deployment, our orders came from the Governments of Quebec and Ontario, respectively. Same for the Winnipeg floods where they came from the Government of Manitoba.
Obviously, in each of these cases, these governments were advised by high ranking military officers on employment of the military forces at their disposal.

Yep! While Trump muses about Canada becoming the 51st state, he is blind to the much greater probability of the US breaking up into five or six separate nations.
America is cruising faster and faster towards remember the actual reason they have a second amendment. An unsurprising number of purported second amendment absolutists who would have taken to the streets armed if a fed under a Democrat administration killed a concealed carry U.S. citizen working as a VA nurse have done a rapid pivot to “tread on me harder, daddy”. Turns out a lot of the past quarter century’s paranoid talk about “the feds” is actually not at all contingent on the said feds’ behaviour, but rather who it’s carried out against.
There are a lot of armed liberals in America, and the discussion of arming themselves is becoming more frequent and open.
Dangerous times.

Sounds like something in our interest. Working with the Republics of New York, California and Minnesota for example sounds much more amenable.
I think this frame grab is developing into one of those “iconic photos of our times”.
By this point the officer holding the gun had watched his colleague remove the victim’s gun from his holster and move away with it. This photo was just as he was beginning to shoot.
With the slowed down versions the best count I’ve got is ten shots. Not sure how many officers fired. There’s a distinct possibility based on some analysis I’ve seen that the first shot was an ND of the victim’s own gun by the officer who had removed it from the holster and was walking away. Too bad the feds abandoned the perimeter and collapsed the crime scene before state investigators could thoroughly examine it.
