A rigger performs all the tasks that you would expect. At the depot, they receive the expended chutes, clean them, repair them, and repack them to send back out. At the units, they receive the fresh chutes, give them a "Riggers Check" and shelve them untill time to use. After the shelf life is up(180 days I think), if not used, the expired chutes are sent back to Trenton to be opened, inspected, and repacked again. They also handle some of the rigging of larger loads for the areial delivery systems. A good rigger will do repairs on rucks, and modifications if you ask the right way...
