All Things AB Separatism (split fm Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???)

The NFLD example is indeed a sound comparison. A small majority decided the fate of the province through referendum. As uncomfortable as that may be for some, it’s an example from Canadian history.

Actually, from a legal standpoint it is a "British" example. That's whose tune Nfld danced to in 1948.

The closest thing to how AB separation will likely go is Catalonia. We all have comparisons like the referendum question being declared illegal but the local gov going ahead anyway. I doubt it will pass here, but Smith has made a some changes to making tampering with the vote for possible.

Canada could pull a similar move to what was done by Spain, suspend the Alberta Act, thus desolving the provincial government. I dont know if it's legally viable as a choice, but if the UCP and separatists wanna play stupid games. Eventually they will win a stupid prize.

And they joined Canada. Your pedantic points are irrelevant to the over all issue: a territory of people held a referendum and by a small margin left one country and joined Canada. The opposite could happen.
