Signature collection can continue but it cannot be certified or referred to cabinet. Judge said the delay will probably be approximately a month while consider and issuing a ruling on the actual application.

Then Insurrection Act it is and Treason won’t be just a insult word thrown around carelessly. It will have legal meaning and will result in people going to jail, basically forever.

We don’t have an ‘insurrection act’, but we do have the crime of ‘sedition’, which covers advocating overthrow by force. Though I think it’s more likely that simpler and better understood terrorism charges would be more likely to be relied upon by police and crown in any such investigation.

But it’s wild that the conversation has even turned this way and that it’s actually because there might be a need to investigate these offences.

How many Quebec separatists faced court martial charges in the CAF or were otherwise prosecuted in the 1970's? I know there were a couple, but they were few and far between.

Sedition is neither an absolute or strict liability offence, BTW. It's very high prosecutorial bar.

Yup. I would not expect to see it prosecuted. Crowns don’t like unfamiliar or untested offences. In any viable sedition case there would likely be a gaggle of other, lesser, more easily proven offences.

Definitely security clearance review for cause and likely loss of employment on those grounds.

I am a boomer and social media naif. Other than a couple of these forums, my only social media platform is Facebook. I seldom contribute because most of the time, when I read comments, I weep for humanity. There are occasions where I will add a comment, in my mind a valid and thoughtful comment, on some thread and it will often receive the same in return. On any of the Alberta First, Alberta 51st or any other thread dealing with the issue or separation or referendum, any comment that is not totally supportive is met with a spew of bile. They are all absolute echo chambers.

That has been my experience apart from on this site as well. The narrative online has been totally hijacked by the fringe of the fringe, and they tolerate nothing short of total compliance with their world view. Exactly like the "woke" people they want to get away from by separating from Canada...

In the real world, when cornered by a political or religious fanatic ( some may be rolled into one ), or disgruntled customer , the easiest way out is to simply nod and say "ok".

That gives them their "win" , and, usually, seems enough to satisfy most.

Just my personal way of dealing with them, ok.
