Speaking very generally and hypothetically here, a person knowingly using someone else’s identity information to sign an electoral petition would likely be committing one or more criminal offenses.

Ew, don’t do that. Especially when I’m consciously not showing my work. I’m being very skittish commenting too specifically on a situation where at this point I’d be surprised if there were not a criminal investigation.

I’m just saying that I don’t share the concern about a lack of available potential offences. We’ll see if the Mounties or Edmonton or whomever end up finding something chargeable that crown’s willing to go with.

I see , the old not guilty by reason of stupidity defence. Yeah, that usually goes over real well with judges .

Even better..... the Alberta prosperity project has dropped their costed plan.....and the math and mathing here. CPP essentially gets counted twice, no income tax yet they give them selves an unjustified 20+ Billuon surplus? None of this adds up to an a realistic costing model, seems more like random numbers on paper

I think the first thing he should to from a legal standpoint....is sue his lawyer.

I get the distinct impression that they're hoping Canada bribes them just to go away.
That might actually work better then an independent referendum.

Somewhere along the line, I figured them and smith playing fast and loose with the rules would catch up to them.

the pressure is not in alberta.

The pressure is in the UCP.

Smith knows that if the separatists leave the UCP, she loses half her supporters, half her caucus.

Her playing footsies with the separatists, and thus becoming a separatist by proxy, is about keeping the UCP as a cohesive unified party.

She knows if the separatists break off, the UCP and the separatists get demolished by the NDP.

Same calculus as the Bloc Quebecois. Before they left the PCs the PCs were much more competative.
