No. I am saying the majority of Albertans should not be restrained from holding accountable the people who rode a political party like a Trojan Horse to force an unpopular separation referendum simply because you feel non-Albertans doing similar would feed alienation. Don't tell Albertans that Albertans can't clean their own house.

When Biden beat Trump; Biden and the Dems had an opportunity to heal build bridges.

Instead the establishment, media and Gov hunted him, Trump. Hunted him right into an extremely polarized country and a Republican victory that has fully disorganized, split the Dems; and knocked them out for at least another term, if not more.

Canada will have the opportunity to show our separatist voting citizens why the stay movement is actually the better movement. I hope we don't squander that opportunity in order to fulfil some emotionally based desire for retribution.

Forget retribution. We need to demonstrate we have the resolve to plug national security "holes". These separatists arent operating in good faith, their influencers have been shown to be foreign actors, their leadership are actively meeting with government officials of neighbouring (and frankly hostile) states and theyre backed by shadowy money. Its all the hallmarks of a foreign influence op. Surely youd be cool with reconciliation if they were funded and meeting with Chinese government officials after they threatened us, right?

Hey man I don't have any control over any of this. I just worry about turning people into martyrs and emboldening and growing movements.

I can only speak for myself, but (and this may be an old-school Canadian view) there's got to be a way to deal with provable* outside interference in Canadian political processes (be it at the federal level, AB/QC separatism, whatever) in a way that both 1) nails the worst offenders consistently, hard and publicly, while 2) doesn't paint the others who have grievances that the worst offenders may have been using to pull their individual special agenda wagon.

Remember the whole convoy business? Some folks start using the word "traitors" and suddenly, it's easy to paint one side as a whole when loads of people were just pissed off, not driving a public movement for an agenda the pissed=off masses may not want or even understand.

I'll also admit that in these divisive times, I'm likely naive, too.

* - Yeah, I know - that, alone, opens a can of worms. Still, there's gotta be a way, even if a dummy like me doesn't know it.
