Armour Regiments and Postings

Hey, armour officer currently in the training pipeline here.

With my first posting coming up in the next couple years, I've been increasingly wondering what kind of "lifestyle" differences I could expect to find at the different RegF armour regiments.

How do the long-term deployment opportunities look like currently for both light/medium and heavy cavalry? I'm aware that the Strats currently have a higher Op tempo than other units since they provide the entire heavy cav squadron in Latvia, but they were only sent and utilized almost ten years after the start of OP REASSURANCE.

What kind of cultures do the units foster? Which posting did you enjoy/disliked (Pet, Val, Edmonton)? Would being a francophone lock me into the 12e or could I still get into the RCD or Strats (I have an english language profile)?

For any armour officer or NCM/NCOs on here: if you had to start over, would you change anything and if so, what would it be?

Can only speak on LdSH(RC)

Edmonton is a good city but the tempo is high. You will most likely get a deployment to Latvia as a Troop leader. If you want to be on a tank you must go there...for now.

Long term deployment prospects let's dig out our crystal balls...hmmm looks like a bde with the a Sqn from the new tank Regt will be fighting the Chinese outside Djibouti in 31-01 you could be the BC! Seriously historical trends don't mean much here.

Strats like to think we're more professional then everyone else out west harhar stick to your lane talk about what you know and work with other trades we're all on the same side. Lots of francos out west.

Additionally statistically your career as an Officer has only the minority part at the Regt.

No Raegrets here though I wish I could have spent more time at the Regiment on the big cats.
