I have a feeling Lutnick took the auto tariff relief off the table last second. He's been vocal about wanting to destroy that industry here in Canada entirely, he was also the one who it was reported yesterday that wasn't happy with the deal that was being worked on.

Sounds like they were also trying to rope us into a kind of customs union with them. Perhaps even if it was just talk the mere thought of Canada being accepted into the EU or short of that, the EUCU (yes, non-EU members can join that) was starting to make people sweat a little.
