CAN-USA Tariff Strife (split from various pol threads)

And Carney has already come out and said dairy is not on the table.

Good.

Found a little more detail of the process in Canada. I have a feeling any unpasteurized milk from the US would fail our current standards very early on if it had to travel more than 300km, or possibly less.

EDIT: In fact I think the initial quality test before the truck starts moving is enough disincentive for any US farm to even consider shipping it here, if they wont even be paid if it fails.

Ontario mostly consists of comparatively small dairy farms as opposed to massive 'factory' farms. Way back in the day when I was with our police service's planning unit, I was sent to a meeting on 'geo-mapping' (for some reason - I had no clue of the topic). This was long before public GPS nd in the very early of things like 911 house numbers. One of the participants was the Ontario Milk Marketing Board. They were very keen on maximizing the efficiency of their truck routes to ensure a truck could be filled and still get to the dairy on time.

Anyone seen confirmation on if we’re expecting the U.S. Supreme Court decision today?

This one was particularly well made, however I noticed the body movements were looping and the facial expressions seemed out of place at certain points.

AI unfortunately strikes again.

Jim Beam’s main distillery is shutting down because of Trump’s tariff war.

WINNING!!

AB InBev is also closing 3 US plants in 2026.

EDIT: Someone has also noticeably changed their tune.

Gaa. Kevin O'Leary; is there a way we can revoke citizenship from a naturally-born person? Process Gretzky while we're at it.

Whole bucket of crocodile tears.

The document, pages 21-26 for the Canada stuff.

Moronic. Golden opportunity to shatter the stupid supply management system. Risk the entirety of free trade to defend a bunch of rich dairy farmers getting richer while dairy products cost more for retirees.

Somehow supply management has become a patriotic duty.

If only some other Commonwealth country had transitioned away from such a system say a quarter century ago, so we could observe, learn lessons, and implement informed change.

Unfortunately, that never happened. Anywhere.

I agree completely with you, but isn't more about votes in Quebec than anything else ?

Should be an image of a Kiwi. They did the big change in the early 90s.
