Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

78k for a 22yr old - solid income right there.

I was rounding - $82k+ ($6858 gross per month).

After the latest pay increase, a Cpl Basic, non-spec, is $40/hour, with no degree requirement.
but they should have reached the status of Journeyman/Woman/person. Which is the same ball park of a degree. Thats good money, nothing to laugh at. Hopefully will attract more to the Military.

Medical, dental, strong leave policy, employer pays about $1.49 per dollar contributed by the CAF member to their pension, additional allowances when exposed to specific conditions, ongoing professional development (fully paid) and progression opportunities.

Yep. That was kinda the point of the pay raise. Make us actually competitive on retention and recruiting. I still wish they'd fix housing and childcare. But more money does at least give members the tools to fix some of that themselves.

Housing needs to be addressed ASAP as well. Childcare might be tackled by maybe providing CCA, CDP, ECE funding for CAF spouses and then hiring them directly.

More money won't solve housing, since you're just flooding the market in base locations, causing inflation.

Childcare is a wicked problem across the country. CAF members have it worse, as they relocate more frequently, and have unusual work patterns that don't necessarily align with available providers.

Building childcare capacity will help, but doesn't solve today's problems.
