While the civilian version was co developed with china, the military version was solely designed in europe and built in the UK.

I feel for the nTACS folks. The DIS has definitely scrambled the math. Much more for them than some others. And this Airbus announcement adds to it. Rumint says Bell has offered to assemble MV-75s in Mirabel.

Add to all this the CA reform and reorganization which changes the tasks for and capabilities required of Tac Avn.

I'm going to guess. Second Chinook squadron in Edmonton. Two regular and one SOF MV-75 squadrons (Borden, St-Hubert Per). Three attack helo squadrons (Edmonton, Per, Valcartier) and Conversion of Cyclone to H175. And respective OTUs (Gagetown and Halifax).

Will be interesting to see what happens with the Attack Helo. I'm guessing Apaches were preferred. The DIS probably rules that out. Dunno what Bell will offer. Guessing Airbus will offer the Tiger.

No. Just fully cognizant of what the DIS means. There's two OEMs who build rotorcraft in Canada. We will be buying from them.

Last week, every requirements shop was tearing apart the DIS to know what the impact was for them. People here should actually read it. It's not fluff. The government fully intends to follow it. "Build - Partner -Buy", in that order, has strong implications for everything we do going forward. As does 70% of spending happening in Canada.

I question if the CAF really needs an Attack Helicopter. I view them as a "nice to have" but there are MANY capabilities that I'd choose to fund before spending any money on AH's.

That's my AOR now - This particular aircraft was 20 or more years ahead of the Osprey. There is a 22 minute video of it and its development on U tube.
I got to poke around in the back. Its not big inside. Tall people have to hunch over like a hound dog...you know the rest.

With the layout of the aviation brigade. Its not a nice to have but a requirement.
