Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

So whatever happened to the Department of Peace and Disarmament? lol

The defence innovation and production industry should have always been a key tool for the economy.

When defence crosses 3.5%, hopefully the innovation and production share will crest over 3%, and defence/securitywill be one of about 10 pillars of the economy.

We can spend that kind of money and still have a small but far more effective military, and that’s exactly what will happen. Ideally the personnel related costs of the military and federal public service component will trend down in real numbers as capability and automation increase.

If total defence spending approaches 5% other parts of the economy will wither.

So let’s be realistic, pragmatic and prudent.

The spending spree can and will end within 5-7 years. Make the correct decisions now.

DAIRS defence.

A couple of announcements today by the PM. in Halifax.

$82.5 million to acquire the 475-acre waterfront property in Eastern Passage, the former Valero lands marketed as Halifax Gate. This will support current and future Royal Canadian Navy operations, including the movement of personnel, ships, and supplies.

$60 million for a new 140-unit apartment complex in Dartmouth, a short drive to 12 Wing Shearwater, giving Canadian Armed Forces members better access to safe, high-quality housing close to where they serve.

Most important: How's the parking?

Despite what some might thing they know, there will be no "Protection Formation". That is a dead idea.
