A Facebook rebuttal to an article that cannot be posted here. It seems to do a good job explaining why our Type-26s have AEGIS and not CMS-330.

It is sad that so much of the discourse has devolved into "America bad!!!" clickbait headlines to draw people in, you see this across mainstream and amateur media circles. Anti-Americanism is rampant and overly patriotic/under informed Canadian seem more than willing to cut off their own legs at the knees just for a chance to spite the Americans.

Point of clarification, CMS330 COULD do BMD; just no one's asked for it to be configured that way with the appropriate weapons and sensors. CMS330 is a better system than AEGIS, in my opinion. The choice to go with AEGIS was simply because it is a proven system, along with weapons proven to work with it, so that the certification process would be much much simpler (which is true). But, I'm convinced that if required CMS330 could do it, and more, it just would take a while to flesh out the bugs and certify it for use, putting on time project delivery at risk.

Ordinarily, in today’s environment we might be tempted to say we don’t have time to flesh out system bugs.
But with the RCD the RCN really does seem to be laser focused on avoiding any of that anyway.
