So the CF is something I've been considering seriously for the past 18 months. I finally went down to the recruiting office here in Montreal after checking the website for the 500th time. I went home that night and applied on-line. I went back to the recruiting office with all my papers signed and filled out. I spoke with an extremely helpful recruiting officer who helped me brush up my application. Three picks:

-Naval Combat Information Operator
-Land Comm and Info systems Technician
-Artillery Soldier - Air Defense

I know my three picks seem varied, but I have my reason for choosing these three. It would seem that due to demand, NCIO will be my likely placement. I have never been so excited in my entire life. As I put it to my parents when I broke the news: "2 months ago I had no idea where my life was going, and I wasn't excited about it. Now, I still have no idea what's in store for me, but I feel secure about my future, and I'm very excited about it" I wake up every day and drive to my boring desk job, and everything feels different. I have a new found love for my Country and desire to protect it.

I'm very nervous for BMQ, but having lurked these forums, I know the system wants you to make it through, and as long as I have drive and determination, I will make it through. I'm also guessing that while my Naval and Specialist training requires a high level of comportment, it won't be taught in the same gruffness as BMQ. Either way, I was told to phone back in to the recruiting center in two weeks if I had not heard anything. My credit score isn't amazing, and this may set me back a little, but the Recruiting Officer, told me I should expect to hit BMQ in January. If it takes longer, it takes longer. I'm learning patience, I don't mind.

So yep, that's my story, I can't wait to become one of the proud serving Canada.  :salute: :cdn: :salute:

Edit: Edited for accuracy

It might be a language thing but you are not enrolling in the CF, not yet anyway, but you are applying to join the CF.  Just a pet peeve of mine.  Good luck.

I was unaware there was a difference. But I trust your judgement. I'll adjust my posts accordingly. Thanks!

To clarify, you haven't enrolled until you've made your oath of allegiance or solemn affirmation. Your recruiter can explain that to you.

Thank you for clarifying the difference. I hope that my thread title update reflects my current situation better.

First of all it's not NCIO it's NCI OP. Minor issue but the mushrooms may take offence.

However you are basically correct your Naval Environmental Training Progam. (NETP) will be taught at either Fleet School in Esqumault or CF Naval Operators School in Halifax. It's currently 25 training days unless it's changed in the last couple of months. Then you will do Occupation training. I beleive this is done out west again unless it's changed and I'm sure someone will correct me if it is. Normally you will not do NETP on one coast then fly to the other but it has been known to happen. As far as I know CFNOS in Halifax only does QL5 and up.
