Dubas Bug

I love the Gunny's rants  ;D

Let's get this straight: I'm gonna' say some stuff and I don't give a damn whether you're amused, entertained, enlightened, offended, frightened, or just down-right pissed off.  The very fact that you're reading this means you obviously have nothing better to do.

These are just a few of Gem's from "The Gunny's 11 Commandment's":

4.  I believe that life is just a big BYOB party, and that you are your bottle.  Some people are bringin' champagne, some people are bringing Boone's Farm.  It's almost all good, 'ceptin' you might not want to indulge too much of the cheap stuff.

7. You shouldn't be able to send other people's kids to war unless you send your own.

8.  Ethics are non-negotiable.  If you accepted the rank, you are obligated to a higher standard.  If you can't meet that standard, take off the uniform.

9.  Enough bullshit about allowing "women in combat," okay?  Women have been in combat for years, numb-nuts: so far, most have done just fine.  I don't want to hear any snivels about little Specialist Lynch, either: we all know that was an issue of training, not sex.  Get over it.

I just finished reading all the chapters that are on from "One Weekend a month", a novel being presented one chapter at a time, authored by Craig Trebilcock.

Describe as:

a thinly-fictionalized account of America’s invasion of Iraq and the first year of occupation under Operation Iraqi Freedom.  It depicts a year in the lives of an Army Reserve Civil Affairs unit thrust from the fast-moving, instant gratification culture of the West into the unyielding Oriental culture of the Middle East.

Funny, and gripping. Has a good handle, IMHO. Chapter 3 is funny. Pretty much displays the dark humour us social rejects who wear green sometimes have.

social rejects?

One of my past COs described us (collective us) as being "Social morons"

Says it all - huh?!

From Google:

Definitions of social on the Web:

-relating to human society and its members; "social institutions"; "societal evolution"; "societal forces"; "social legislation"
-living together or enjoying life in communities or organized groups; "a human being is a social animal"; "mature social behavior"

Definitions of Moron on the Web:

A person having the mental age of 8 to 12 years *who is capable of doing routine work under supervision. [eg Foolish]

idiot: a person of subnormal intelligence

Put those two together, and it seems to work  ;D

don't know if I should feel flattered or insulted ?

Oh well.... what were we talking about again?

Chimo!
