I was wondering when f&e would be auth
circumstances:
baisic trg 17 jan
poet kingston
avionics borden

I am ex-mil but my spouse is joining...we have a 10 mos old baby and cfrc said that we may get a pmq in Kingston. (possibly a very empty one...LOL)
can anyone explain how the f&e would work (cfrc was crystal clear) would my spouse be flown home at any point to collect it?
I was a single ex-reservist when i went reg and my f&e was collected b4 my ql3..a while back

Depends on each occupation amongst other factors as to when HG&E would be moved. Best to ask CFRC for clarification, look at her enrollment message (ETP Instr) or ask CFSCE once she gets there.

There is however a "Return To Assist" directive which can allow pers to return to move HG&E - provided of course it does not affect her ability to attend classes. Again, we can only speculate when and where, you have to ask those who would know for certain.

thanks, i made a mistake in my post...did ask cfrc...they said they were not sure because 1. the avionics course is 54 weeks total, but the course is broken down into modules

Bcause Isaidso,

Welcome to Army.ca. Here are some reading references that are core to how Army.ca operates. I strongly recommend you take a moment to read through these to give you a better sense for the environment here. It will help you avoid the common pitfalls which can result in miscommunication and confusion. For those that choose not to read, their actions often lead to warnings being issued or even permanent bans.

thank you for you informative post...not able to read all with a toddler running around...lol
still hoping for someone in-the-know to help out, thanks

So you did not ask the CFRC to confirm this information from Kingston?

I would not sign anything where I was not being provided the information I needed or requested.

cfrc said (after asking numerous times....nervous when you have a little one to consider) that because poet trg in Kingston >180 days that there maybe an entitlement of 5 days to return to NL to pick up family and belongings.
cfrc said they don't know what happens beyond basic trg and that the we should check with the school in Kingston once there.
Should we keep on cfrc?
I get the impression that they think that their response is sufficient...even though we are very uncomfortable with it.
Flying by the seat of you pants is really no longer an option when you are responsible for a young child.
Down right irresponible.

Thank you for responding...I know that the knowledge is out there....this is board is brimming with it :)

I somewhat understand what you are saying........i somewhat sympathise with you...........BUT :

I have 2 young kids myself, i have been in the CF for 15 years.  I have had to fly by the seat of my pants the whole time. Last minute career courses, last minute tours, last minute postings, you name it, its happenned. If you think that its "just not an option" then you need to consider another choice of career. Its not impossible to do and lots of CF members old and new do it. It is not "irresponsible", its a personal choice. If you can't live with that, i wont hold it against you but theres the way it is.

Having just finished POET, I can tell you that the courses running RIGHT NOW get at least one leave period of 5 days during the course. There would be absolutely no other time to go without being recoursed, you simply cannot miss 5 days of classes and pass. Period. The material is far too fast paced - hence the 30% failure rate. Also CFSCE policy says that anything over 2 days consecutive of missed classes may be grounds for recourse as we were told.

That being said - the training plan has been updated for the new year, compressing the course even more. I believe (not completely sure of new length, so don't quote me) that it is in the ~150 day region. There was even talk of eliminating the block leave within the course, but that I have no information on. However, if you have any questions about the POET training, I've got plenty of fresh info.

Just got out of Borden, living in PMQs.  I am not Air Force at all, but my kids' caregiver's husband was AVS, and their experience, and some other anecdotal experiences I heard suggest the fol:

No one will give you definites before enrollment, or in St Jean.  Any energy you expend right now trying to predict when your family will be reunited under one roof is pretty much wasted right now (sorry, but it's generally the truth).

After BMQ, member is sent to Borden (CFSATE).  CFSATE, if they can will attempt to arrange a move to Borden, before POET.  If by some weird coincidence BMQ lines up directly with POET (no gaps between), then it will be more difficult.  Likely there will be a break between BMQ and POET, that's when you'll move.

After POET, member returns to Borden and waits training at CFSATE.  There is a huge PAT platoon at CFSATE, full of folks waiting POET or Tech trg at CFSATE.  Expect to spend a couple of years living in the Qs in Borden. (POET plus tech training plus waiting time between courses = a couple of years)

As much of a pain as it is to be away from family, moving everyone to Borden is probably what will happen.  Yes POET is long, but they are not keen to move the family of untrained pers around the country while the mbr completes trg.  I have yet to hear of anyone getting a full posting with DHG&E to Kingston for POET, then another full posting to Borden for tech training.  After BMQ, expect Borden, but don't expect any arrangements to be given to you until after BMQ.

I am ex-combat arms and I have seen many a family wasted....and many base BRATS....not acceptable...I don't mind last minutes once posted and settled :)
