Amazing that such a thing could happen in the USA in this day and age.IMO this smells political.

Still, the families seem pleased at SecDef's move (not surprisingly.... Odds of this succesfully being prosecuted to the extent of a death penalty being held up are slim…
Yup, pretty sure the administration of wanting to give the Trump campaign this freebie, knowing that few people would give it any scrutiny and understand why things were going the way they were.Still, the families seem pleased at SecDef's move (not surprisingly.

Both suspects in a foiled plot to attack Taylor Swift shows(opens in a new tab) in Vienna appeared to be inspired by the Islamic State group and al Qaeda, Austrian authorities said Thursday, and investigators found bomb-making materials at one of their homes. Officials said one of the two confessed to planning to "kill as many people as possible outside the concert venue."
The arrest of ISIS-affiliated individuals in the U.S., and the group’s resurgence in operational activity and recruitment in west and central Asia, reinforces the threat ISIS poses to its regional neighbors and the U.S. and its western allies. In April 2024, FBI Director Christopher Wray stated how “the potential for a coordinated attack here in the homeland, akin to the [ISIS-Khorasan] (ISIS-K) attack we saw at the Russia concert hall” is of increasing concern.
- In June 2024, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested eight Tajik men with alleged ties to ISIS in Philadelphia, New York City, and Los Angeles. The men entered the U.S. through the southern border, and at least two of them crossed into the U.S. in spring 2023. In April 2024, ICE also arrested Jovokhir Attoev, an Uzbek national living in Baltimore, for his alleged ties to ISIS. Attoev, currently awaiting trial in New Jersey, entered the U.S. through Arizona in February 2022. In May 2023, Uzbekistan released an international notice regarding Attoev’s ISIS ties leading to his arrest.
- In July 2024, a U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) statement noted that as of that month, ISIS claimed at least 153 attacks in Iraq and Syria alone, surpassing the 121 attacks for all of 2023. According to the statement, “the increase in attacks indicates ISIS is attempting to reconstitute following several years of decreased capability.” USCENTCOM Commander Gen. Michael Kurilla said USCENTCOM is also focusing on “members of ISIS who are seeking to conduct external operations outside of Iraq and Syria” and those who are trying to help ISIS reconstitute their forces. According to The Center for Strategic and International Studies, the reason for the increase in attacks is believed to be multifaceted, ranging from the group gaining strength and operational freedom to the divergence of U.S.-backed assets toward Iranian groups.
- In June 2024, a pro-ISIS-K Russian media group attempted to bolster ISIS-K membership by encouraging supporters from the Caucasus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan to join. ISIS-K remains one of ISIS’s most active affiliates, plotting and conducting successful attacks outside of Afghanistan. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence assessed in 2023 that ISIS-K “almost certainly retains the intent to conduct operations in the West and will continue efforts to attack outside Afghanistan.” In May 2024, French authorities arrested a Chechen man suspected of planning an attack against the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics in the name of ISIS.
One can only hope some of them knock each other off, thereby leaving less in this world.Sometimes, it is super hard to know who to cheer for…

FBI arrests Afghan man over alleged US election day terror plot
The man allegedly plotted to carry out an attack in the US on behalf of the Islamic Statewww.bbc.com
So this guy and his co conspirator were both caught - which is FANTASTIC news, and a job well done by all involved!
My biggest fear (which I'm 99% sure I'm right about) are all of the sleeper agents & sleeper cells who keep themselves quiet, don't text or talk over the phone about their plans, coordinate in Mosques and in private - who I genuinely believe are gearing up for a massive October 7th style attack across America sometime within the next year (possibly as early as shortly after the election, which will be right around the Holiday season)
With tens of millions who have crossed the southern US border, not to mention the hundreds of thousands the US government have flown in from overseas - if even 1% of them are open to attacking Americans in their homeland, that's still potentially tens of thousands of potential terrorists...
I think we will see a series of attacks that will be a combination of the suicide bomber in the supermarket scene from Sicario 2, the recent Moscow theatre attack (a handful of guys with high powered rifles that just showed up and started shooting everybody), and something along the lines of October 7th (house to house, business to business, targeting residential areas primarily)
In addition to the residential areas, I think we will see attacks at professional sports games, shopping malls, schools, etc - but also places we've always thought of as immune from domestic terror attacks (hospitals, police stations)
...
Anyways, not trying to fear monger. I just have a feeling by this time next year, we are going to see a campaign of domestic terror attacks that will completely upset all facets of life here in North America...
Someone is paying for all these people from around the world to fly all the way to South America, and start the hike up through the Darian Gap.
Last I checked, Yemenis & Somalians didn't have a ton of disposable income or access to international flights (or Afghans, for that matter...and Afghanistan is right back to being the terror safe haven it used to be)
Given how frequently we see one or two man cells disrupted based on informant/undercover information, I don’t share your concern of something remotely close to that scale. It seems hard to be a jihadist and go very long without being detected.![]()

I hate your country and your culture. But I also want to live in your country and revel in all the benefits your country provides.Well, it's no suprise. Lots and lots of people predicted this is what was going to happen when they started leaving home and crossing into western countries. Whether they kill one or a thousand, the bleeding hearts were warned. Islamists and western society are incompatible.
And turn your country into the same type of shithole I left because it was a shithole.I hate your country and your culture. But I also want to live in your country and revel in all the benefits your country provides.
Assholes.
Useful fools - and when they complain "we didn't sign up for this" they will be beheaded. What really makes me curious is we know the radical Islamists hate the LGBTQ2SL+ community - that supports Hamas and Hezbollah.Well, it's no suprise.
