Gunner, i‘m not sure what some of those abbrivations mean but you seem like a pretty smart guy so i‘m going to agree with you
I don‘t think job legistlation would work simply because people fear change and new things, i can see a boss seeing that someone is in the reserves and thinking "humm, what is all that job legistlation crap about? Is he going to leave for whatever and i have to hold his job? im gonna just hire the next guy"
I don‘t think the reserves will be able to field much more then a company. Roto 13 is set to leave in sept/october of 2003. Full time work up training starts in May. Reserve soldiers have to take off 5 straight months for training (in adition to the 6 month tour). in adition to that there was pre-work up training which started in october that just passed. Reserve soldiers who want to go on tour have to make specific training dates (a year before they deploy) if they miss one of these week-ends their pretty much off the list. (If you ask me theres no requirement for this, it‘s all done in the work up trainign with the regs).
On top of that, from now until deployment lots of the soldiers are going to change their mind, decide not to goto bosnia because of this or that. I was chatting with a guy who told me that because of the other soldiers int he platoon (he doesnt like them) that he doesnt want to goto bosnia anymore but he‘ll still do some pre-work up training for the cash.
Thats a mentality that will really work against the reserves staying together (for lack of a better word) all the way until the end. people can, and will, quit when they want. (Uhhh i got a better job, my parents dont want me to go, my girlfriend said she would dump me if i go)
