Is anyone interested in lending a young soldier in the Ottawa-ish area a pair of combat boots size 13W while he goes away on his DP1 course?

It seems there is a shortage of combat boots in the system and doing a summer course in Cold wet weather boots doesn't sit well with me (if it can be helped).

WTF?

There must be a better way to get this guy some boots...

You would think so. I'm going to head up to Kingston and check out the army surplus stores there.

I won't even mention the difficulties in getting tacvests or BEWs.  I've lent out my set AND handed in my 82 pattern webbing and green LBV to be issued to soldiers going away on course.

If you need a pair of boots, they HAVE to provide you with boots, eighter from the system or local purchase.  I believe Vern posted something not too long ago regarding that.

Yea he's got some.  Cold Wet Weateher goretext boots for a July to August DP1 ;)

That's Ottawa for you.  Getting anything is like pulling hen's teeth.  When I went to A'stan in Nov, I wanted to trade at least one pair of my desert boots (which no longer fit), they said not to bother bringing them as they had none in stock.  ::)

I went and bought my own.

THREAD MINOR DERAILMENT

Bah this is ridiculous, I have one pair of wetweather goretex combats (non winter). However there's a guy in the next room over in garrision (a pte untrained) THAT HAS 5! Most guys that are here from the St. John supply in NB have at least 4 pairs. Where is the uniformity in issuing gear!  ???

If you have any guys that need boots in the 9-9.5 range, let me know. I could use an excuse to by some new ones.
