Liberal Minority Government 2021 - ????

i dont see how it couldnt be? Although I guess it depends on the wording but what would be the point if the opposition didnt nail down the wording? Seems an unlikely series of events that should also be unnecessary.
Agreed it should be unnecessary. The games being played right now, while comprehensible to me, are also procedurally outside of what I really know about.

What I would personally like to see, in the interest of Canada as a whole, and in the interest of not straining our constitutional conventions, would be for PMJT to call an immediate election, frames as ensuring that the government of the day 37 days hence has a mandate govern Canada through turbulent waters. I would want to see him stay at the helm of the LPC in the interest of getting this done ASAP, notwithstanding that the result of that is obviously foregone.

That won’t happen. Failing that, I want to see the quickest possible vote on a confidence motion as soon as Parliament resumes. No procedural dodges to delay or avoid it, no prorogue for a four month LPC leadership campaign. Let Canadians elect a legislature from the options on the menu right now, so that a government with a fresh mandate can be formed soonest.

In normal circumstances I wouldn’t be sometimes of an abrupt process, but with the political and economic threats we’re facing from the south, these are not normal times.

the problem remains as i see it the inability of caucus to exercise any authority over the PM/leader. The British and Australians dont have this issue as they change their PM on the regular

Canada has a unique form of parliamentary government. Unlike any I've seen elsewhere.
The way our Prime Minister's Office is structured has I suspect effectively neutered the concept of the cabinet style of parliamentary system that exists elsewhere in the Commonwealth.
I also suspect it was done quite by accident .
However I note that it's been like that for thirty years or more nobody is in a hurry to fix it.

I also suspect it was done quite by accident on purpose.

Anyone care to read any tea leaves in Singh’s latest letter to the PM?
He expressed concern about the cost-of-living challenges already faced by Canadians and that Trump's tariffs will increase hardship. He should try to block retaliatory measures which add another layer to those difficulties; I doubt that he will.

I don't. Power is seldom if ever amassed by accident. One problem with our system is there is no rule to prevent it.

I don't know if PET started it, but if he didn't he certainly raised it to an artform. The funny thing is, no government since has sought to reign it in.

Watching Carney announce his candidacy. His French is actually better than I thought.

kevin wants to get rid of the passport? Will the USA allow us in without one? Is it that he wants all provinces to do enhanced ID/Driver license like BC has? All for that then.
looks like we are back to a dead heat in Ontario for decided voters
because they are afraid everyone other than liberals will cut government jobs, immigrations, international students, while deporting illegals. Toronto and Ottawa become ghost towns as half of ontario is then unemployed, kept out or deported. (slightly exaggerating)

Enhanced ID is a great idea.

No one I know in the PS that I know of thinks that one party won’t cut. We all know it is coming. The question is the “how”. That has yet to be defined by the CPC. And only partially defined by the LPC.

Not a matter of if or when, it is how much. LPC tends to like bloated while CPC leans leaner.

The LPC likes whatever will keep them in power. Now that they have ditched Trudeau, expect them to revert to type.
