Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

Peraonally it wouldn't bother me if she only spoke French or English but I don't see the role as useful either.

What makes you fine with her speaking Inuktitut and not French? Guessing it's to do with the herritage/historical angle?

We could see a GG speaking just french and Tse’khene.

I wouldn't be against having GG's that only speaks 1 official language + at least 1 first nations language as an alternative to knowing both French and English. In fact I think that's a fantastic idea, as a mostly English speaker. It would really open up the pool of future GG candidates.

It is after all, a mostly ceremonial position.

That seems like a great idea.

Could even regulate the role of GG to being primarily a First Nations role and they can go around telling everyone about reconciliation.

Crickets on the PBO report? Or is is just an undeniable black mark against the PM MC and his version of the Liberals?
Usually by now, one of you Liberal cheerleaders is on here explaining away how it is not that bad or this report is just incorrect or being "misinterpreted".

We're waiting for facts, not projections.

Also, stop projecting.

Sure you are. When you see the Tornado is coming, don't decide to wait until it flattens your house to believe its a tornado.
No I mean literally. There's so much other shit going on right now (did you see highlights from the Hesgeth/Trump shit show today?) that I don't have time to worry about preliminary reports. I'll comment when I have a chance to look at the actual budget.

Fair enough

Pretty typical of a Canadian these days, too concerned with what's happening down south. Trump living rent free in the minds of Canadians while Carney and company quietly destroys this country.

The OAS stuff belongs here as much (or more) than the 2%+ thread.

I'll freely admit it @ArmyRick. I feel an intense apathy towards the current federal budget. As long as no political party is willing to step on the 3rd rail that is Transfers to Persons pretty much all budgetary talk is ideologically driven arguments about who's going to arrange the Titanic's deck chairs the best. A simple sensitivity analysis on PBO assumptions on GDP growth and and BoC rate shows creates as much variability on the deficit/debt GDP ratios as most other spending topics combined.

And no party is going to be willing to do it without a firm majority and/or bipartisan consensus.
