Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

Under the gossamer veil of 'nation building', you would think Alberta would have chosen a Calgary-Edmonton HSR/HFR project rather than a tourist train to a destination that is already horribly overcrowded.
The idea is to get less cars into Banff with this with a fixed ticket price of around $30-$35, It would travel between calgary and Banff, eventually being extended to Lake Louise, and Jasper, then loop over to Edmonton. I agree though HSR would be a better project

To Trudeau's credit he only attended QP 44% of the time but he always answered MP questions and it doesn't look like he's ever left half way through.
Trudeau did leave partly thru QP, and more than once.

The PM is expected to attend Question Period when not out of town or when hosting an event that would require them to be away, if I understand that correctly.

They are just another MP
(not meant in a dismissive way) who just so happens to be selected (elected from within the party) to be party leader. But he is expected to attend Question Period and to be there to represent the government being asked questions from the other parties.

He was also infamous (and loathed) because he rarely ever actually answered any questions.

Sure, he would acknowledge questions. But he & Freeland were infamous for their non-answers and word salad answers, and were well known for evading clear, direct answers.

An article I just found that some here may find of interest. (Not really about the LPC, but about them moreso than not)

And for all of those fretting about the dollar.

The Canadian dollar on Friday rose past 72 cents U.S. for the first time since late September after surprise labour numbers further solidified the market’s belief that the Bank of Canada will hold interest rates at its next meeting.

The Canadian dollar jumped 0.83 per cent to 72.23 cents U.S. on Friday afternoon from Thursday’s close of 71.64 cents U.S. in response to the better-than-expected numbers.
Which now leads to the uncomfortable question...is Carney responsible for this, considering his short tenure as Prime Minister, or is this Trudeau?

Do you really want to argue about who is responsible for a .72 cent dollar ?

It does nothing to improve our crappy productivity, it provides a crutch for businesses to rely on.
A higher dollar doesn't instantly mean greater productivity.

A higher dollar puts pressure on exporters which means they are even less likely to spend money on importing and investing into machinery and processes that increase productivity.

Productivity is boosted by capital first and foremost. A business has a lot of capital, they can invest in productivity. The issue with Canada and Europe is trying to compete with the capital behemoth that is the USA.

Then, there is research and development, which Canada lags the USA and Europe in, which has little to do with the strength of the dollar.

And then there is inefficient capital investment, so even when capital is invested into R&D, we don't exactly have a culture of tech startups resulting from it or massive leaps in industrial productivity. Pretty much, in Canada, if we cannot use it to get oil out of the ground faster we tend to discard it.

So we can can go with the simple "low dollar, low productivity" thrope or we can address the structural issues at play.

Australia has higher productivity than canada, and their dollar is lower. The Europeans have a lower productivity than the USA despite the EURO being stronger.

Thanks for attending my TED talk.

This article goes into a bit more detail about the jobs numbers and that this is likely what is spurring the dollar up a bit. Add the GDP growth, the dollar and the jobs performance and this seems more than a blip given the 2 previous months results as well.

But…doing better than expected does not necessarily mean doing awesome. But it is going in a positive direction.
