He’s certainly got a solid finance pedigree, and has worked at senior levels for multiple large investment funds. This guy will be able to talk business, and big deals, as well as international macroeconomics. PM Carney will probably be able to delegate trade negotiations to him quite effectively.

He’s very pro-immigration, from an economics standpoint. To the extent that he’s said we need substantially higher immigration over the rest of the century, and Quebec’s dislike of the notion be damned.

If he were being named immigration minister or something it would be more concerning, but as ambassador to the U.S. that’ll largely be out of his arcs.

Angus Reid is about as trust worthy and reliable as the cbc to be impartial.

How does a polling company "fact check their sources"? How does a polling firm "retract that info"?

It's one thing to not trust the numbers themselves (and all polling companies can be judged on a case-by-case basis based on how they surveyed, when, how they worded questions, who they collected the data for, etc.), and another to not trust other people's read of the same numbers.
