For me, it’s telling that Harper has stood in front of the foreign press and has said loudly that he believes that Carney did the right thing to walk away from the deal that was offered. Harper didn’t pull any punches when he said, he wasn’t hedging his bets. How? I thought the Conservative, or at least non-Liberal, mantra was the provinces and feds need to stay in their own lanes.
How do we know he doesn't? None of us know the actual details of the final stages of trade negotiations and what was said by the two parties. Seeing as we're not the aggressor, I'll take it at face value that the conditions demanded by the US were bridges too far.
Maybe it's all lies and we walked away from a sweet deal.
Maybe when the GM dealer won't budge, you talk to Ford.
Or do we stay seated at a table with a gun to our head?
