Did you ever watch American History X, where Edward Norton goes to jail and immediately takes his shirt off displaying a swastika tattoo to show his colours? Seems like that's what our member of Parliament did shortly after getting to the LPC, which Carney shrugged off.

He's good at being an attack dog. Great for the base. He's not the guy I see being able to compromise or move the party towards the center.

He's what PP was before PP became leader.
It's funny, because in 2015, i was saying the same thing. PP had better not be leader because his attack dog style would just spook those on the left.

To me, it was, hey, look at how PP owns this reporter. Look at how cool he is dismissing this reporter while chomping on an apple.

Which, if your goal is to be a successful owner of the libs, bravo, well done.

If your goal is come across as a serious leader of a major political party and maybe leader of the country, no, not a success.

But when it comes to performative nonsense like that or a serious Conservative, again, Chong, Ambrose, or Raitt, the CPC base will just pick Cooper or someone of that ilk to replace Pierre and call it a day.

That framing feels more like interpretation than evidence of impact.

The clip showed him challenging a vague “people are saying” line rather than dodging a concrete claim. Whether that reads as “serious leadership” or “performative” is subjective, but it’s not really the same as substantiating policy or competence either way.

Poilievre was right to call him out. It's telling when someone is more upset over the apple than the journalists clear inability to identify any actual sources. Which do you think is a bigger problem in Canada? A mouth full of pome or unethical journalism?

Michael Chong would be a great replacement...But CCP in China will do anything and everything to torpedo his chances.

Other top dogs in the race to replace Pierre are Larry Brock, Michael Barret, Michael Cooper, Peter McKay if he wants to try again, Kelly Block (assuming she speaks french), Michelle RG, Sandra Cobena (she has become a CPC heavyweight in short time), Jasraj Hallan, Leslyn Lewis, just to name a few.

I assume you don't follow committee in parliament? Lots of good work gets done there.

Politicians deal with unethical journalists all the time.

Rebel news went after Carney on trans issues knowning his family situation.

Carney just answered the question and moved on. Didn't make a big performance about it. Definately didn't eat an apple.

Your stuck in the past and you DO NOT follow parliamentary Q and A or committee. Its obvious. Cooper always comes aggressively and with loads of facts and numbers. That is your issue if that upsets you..

Cooper is a great attack dog.

PP was a great attack dog.

Want to hold the governments feet to the fire, engage the base? Send in Poilievre or Cooper.

Want to grow the party, and not spook those in the center and those on the left? Pick a Chong type. Attack dogs, in my opinion, do not make great national leaders as they come across as zealots in their ideology. Trudeau suffered from this as well. I said many times, Trudeau needed to let up on pipelines and build them across the country and pay off Quebec by boosting bombardier or something. But he was a climate zealot and that worked until it didn't.

PP is the same way. Could PP have taken the consumer carbon tax cancellation as a win? He could have, but then he just switched to the industrial carbon tax as the new boggieman. Where is the compromise? There is none. He doesn't work on that spectrum. The closer Carney and the LPC get to his position, the further right he will tack. Cooper, I view in the same lense.

Now I might be wrong. I've been wrong before, like you. It's just my opinion on the matter.

I am going to give Carney some props on this. He has shrugged off some low hanging fruits level insults or baiting pretty good and just moves on.

I stand by him being a better PM than JT, one of the reasons being is far more "political bearing" in his presentation.

So, for all the Harper Haters, what if the CPC won again and six months in the PM retires after a leadership convention and the new leader takes over.

Would that make the CPC more palatable? I think there are a lot of people that aren't even aware, one iota, of the various platforms and issues. Their only commonality and reason for voting is they don't like Harper.

They're willing to risk all kinds of financial woes, possible economic failure, maybe four years of irreparable damage, etc simply because they want to punish one man.

Watch what you ask for, you just might get it...

Which is exactly where the system went wrong, and the political parties (which, I remind every one are not - repeat - not part of our political system, but private entities seeking power through elections) usurped the power of Parliament: All MP not otherwise in government (meaning members of the council of ministers) are there to hold government to account on behalf of their riding's constituents.

If all Members of Parliament not otherwise PM, Ministers or Ministers without portfolios remembered that, our system would work so much better. Unfortunately, political parties (all of them) and the government in residence (the civil service) have emasculated Parliament to the point where, in majority government, the PM is basically a dictator for four to five years.

Exactly. Now he can remain willfully ignorant while Carney can willfully ignore it. Certainly Poilievres is the greater sin.

Absolutely not. Carney should be taking action instead of getting cozy with Beijing. His first priority should be protecting our national security from foreign threats instead of protecting shareholder profits of certain businesses greasing Beijing’s palms.

It still does not excuse Poilievre’s willful blindness to shenanigans in his house though.

It disgusts me that we don’t have any leaders who take national security seriously.
