Hello I will be attending Basic Training on Sept 14. As a Met Tech. I want to confirm with anybody who might know when the occupational training starts? Is it Jan 2027? Is the training in Winnipeg at the base and school located there or is it located else where? I am trying to prepare mentally to be in the freezing cold if I need be thanks!

The Met Tech DP1 is about five and a half months long, so the next serial will start in January. Between basic and the start of your occupation training you may be sent to Winnipeg, or to the closest base to your joining location, depending on your personal circumstances. I.e. married, children, single, etc...

The Canadian Forces School of Meteorology is in CFB Winnipeg. Students are housed and fed on base, not far from the school itself. Your course staff will be military, though there are covilian instructors in the school for the RQ MS/MCpl course you'll take later in your career.

Winnipeg is fairly cold and windy during the winter, but the spring and summer aren't too bad. The city generally has lots or concerts, and there are some interesting museums there as well.

Good luck in basic training!
