I'm not a trucker, but I know a few.

First, uniform colour does not always determine postings; RCAF blue is found in service battalions, and Army green can be spotted dong SNIC on airfields.

Second, there is a tremendous variation between what different MSE Ops do, day to day.  Many enjoy the trade for that reason, because of the variety of employment that's possible.

I am looking at changing uniform from Navy to Air Force and wondered about MSE Ops training.
What happens with those who are Air Force then?

What do Air Force members do if Army has this specific training?

Can anyone tell me if they have been able to get into the MSE OP trade with a CV 3? I have everything else in order with the exception of the CV3.  MSE OP requires a CV 2, but I am wondering if certain things are open to interpretation?  Certain things I know cannot be for example the Occupation Code.....I will be seeing the BPSO next week.

No.  Minimum standards are not open to interpretation.  If you are already in a trade and go below standard, an AR is conducted with possibilities including retention, retention with restrictions, COT and release.

CV is important for MSE Ops for a variety of reasons, including user maintenance of vehicles, and safe handling of cargo.  I do not believe a waiver would be entertained.

I'm sure you are correct....im not feeling good about my chances.  I do have my 404's and can see traffic lights no problem, but yes I guess I can see that there is still a difference.

What do the first few weeks of MSE OP QL3 training look like? Is it mostly power point until you start driving and doing field exercises? Is there PT in he first couple weeks? Or is it PT on your own time?
Thank you. :cdn:

Since most of the driving in the RCN was done by the Bosns, Naval Storesman and Commissaryman and the first two are already back in use, he could be issued with Commissaryman trade badge and confuse the hell out of every one.  ;D

For education sake: The old Commissaryman trade was responsible for completing the food orders, keeping track of shipboard food consumption and for keeping the various mess accounts and alcohol orders -what we would regard as NPF accounting today. Since they made most of the orders in those fields, they doubled as truck drivers in harbour to go get that stuff. Their duties were split between the cooks and the Stewards when the trades were re-organized in 1960.

Hoping to touch base with an MSE Op to ask a few questions in PMs. If you're feeling generous and want to help me out let me know in PM's or post here and I'll PM you.

Cheers.  :salute:

Anyone on here ever have success or heard of anyone getting granted a PLAR for MSE Op?

Haven’t heard of it.  But you’d probably need more than a driver wheel course to be PLAR’d, would most likely need civilian experience/quals to help support a PLAR.  If a PLAR was granted, you may still be required to do portions of the QL3.
