I've heard through the grapevine that it is possible to receive courses outside the scope of your trade if there are spots available. Can anyone confirm this and possibly point me in the right direction on where I could find more information on this? I have asked my CoC and they seem unsure.

What courses did you have in mind?  What is available to you will be limited by your trade and unit, eg as a Firefighter don't expect to be put on a Basic Recce Patrolman course.

A number of courses are available to any trade(I assume certain trades/unit would have priority over others), but there are also courses that only certain trades can be loaded onto.

To be honest, I would love to get a jump course. The only thing I could say to relate it to my job is the potential to be a smokejumper but AFAIK the CF doesn't utilize smokejumpers.

But my "selling point" is if a course isn't filled, it wouldn't cost the military in terms of TD considering I live in Trenton where CFLAWC is. But again, my lack of experience is why I am asking.

If you're in Trenton, try to "vulture load" on the course with CoC approval. I bet you 99.9% of jump courses are full with a wait list, but my unit was able to get a mechanic on basic para because he showed up for the PT test, passed, and luckily someone failed. This is a rare occurrence though, units aren't going to send people who meet just the minimum requirements as spots are incredibly valuable.
