Political impacts of Ukraine war

Carney is in Ukraine before going to Ooland on Monday.
They kept that one pretty quiet and sneaky.

One line jumps out: “Speaking on background ahead of the trip, a Canadian government official said Canada is not excluding the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine in an eventual ceasefire.”

Interestingly enough, though, Lavrov did an English-language interview with NBC's "Meet the Press" today, and according to this RUS foreign ministry transcript (links to archived page, not RUS server - transcript text also attached as PDF), here's what he (allegedly) said:1756042723186.png

“They've actually been willing to be flexible on some of their core demands.”

Vance said Moscow has conceded “the recognition that Ukraine will have territorial integrity after the war” — although he notably did not address whether a post-war Ukraine would have the boundaries it did before Moscow's invasion.

He also stressed that Russia has “recognized that they're not going to be able to install a puppet regime in Kyiv.” ...
