Replacing the Subs

Well as i said before you are probably looking at 2 to 3 times the on shore support staff so the off the book expansion runs to 6000 to 8000 more and just the on the books plans are another 3000 to 4000(?)
may be a silly question but with the time span available couldn't the vast majority of those positions be filled by either retirees or people parting after say 10 years with a guaranteed job available in exchange for taking a reserve slot or even without the reserve position?

With the next G7 being held in France on 15-17 June and SK being on the invite list of attendees, does anything want to venture a guess if our decision on the submarines will be made, before the G7 meeting, during the G7 meeting or after the G7 meeting?

The contest is nearly over to provide Canada’s next submarines

My bet is after. Why piss of the German chancellor in advance and doing it during a summit actually being hosted in Europe might come off as a little undiplomatic to say the least...

I'm thinking closer to the fall. Since they gave them an extra month for fixing their bidding the original expected time was end June, now we're pushing closer to the Labour Day.

Given the interest in undersea cables and the need to sustain that 95% of internet trafiic that passes through them, and given the owners' efforts to harden, protect and patrol them with fixed and roving sensors, and turning them into sensors themselves, how long will it be before long range subs are facing the problem of trying to cross the 401 in daylight at rush hour?

Are we better off with a sub that can loiter quietly for a long time locally surrounded by friendly UUVs and infrastructure?
