Hey all,
Earlyer I was asking about how long basic is for reservists, I found out that it is 15 weekends throughout the year. Is that 15 weekends in a row? If not can you choose which weekend you go? or do different units have different training schedules. I am hopeing to get in with the Lorne Scots, if anyone knows more details, your help would be greatly appreciated.

You dont get to pick and choose what weekends you want to go on. I think its 3 weekends in a row of training, 1 weekend off, 3 weekends in a row, etc.

Also, each unit doesnt run their own weekend BMQ, the Brigade does. Your be doing the course with people from all the reserve units in your area.

Reserve BMQ isnt always run on the weekends, there‘s usually a BMQ and SQ course run in the Summer(July/Aug). Least thats how it is in my area.

Doing weekend reserve BMQ now... Basically it‘s every other weekend for 11 weekends. Might not be the same for your area though, but check with your local CFRC (probably at Mississauga in your case).

You should try and take the summer course, I have heard that its much better than spreading it out over along time the other way.

BMQ is 20 training days. It will be spread out however whoever is running the coarse wants it. Sometimes you may not be doing it entirely on weekends depending if your BMQ falls on something like Spring break or christmas vacation, as often you may go on a 5 day stint. Every coarse is different.

You just missed the 32cbg winter BMQ (lorne scots is part of that). I actually just got home a few hours ago from the first weekend. So you‘ll most likely be going in the summer unless it takes you a long while to get in.

I know that PLF BMQ runs every weekend in March plus all of March break.

I‘m currently on a weekend BMQ. Started in Nov and will be finished before May. It comes to about two weekends every month, sometimes it‘s every other, sometimes its two weekends in a row. I got a full schedule ahead of time to plan around.

I could have gone in the summer, personally I think that‘s better because you won‘t have to cart your kit home all the time and you forget some details over the weeks and get crap for it.
