You're going to help pull that money out of the Defence Department's ass I assume?

I am sure the RCAC will appreciate your generous donation of $50,000 deducted from your paycheck for the cause.

Well think about this one.  If you lined up everyone in the Canadian Forces side by side across Canada there would be 3.2 kilometers between each person.  We need more than tanks.

And the threat assessment to justify the expenditure would be??

Now we're into my lane.

100 panzers can effectively do the job in the current threat environment. Do we wish for more?

Of course. Any tanker worth his salt would want more.

However, with that, there is more issues with regards to support, recovery, maintenance, parts, fuel, man hours, training, standing up old units that have been deactivated like the 8CH and FGH. Then of course you have to put everyone and every tank under a roof.

Buying more tanks is the easy part, it's the support required and expenditures that make it expensive. It would literally be a multi BILLION dollar prospect that you're proposing. So much so the remainder of the CF would have to stop drop because there wouldn't be enough cash to support other things. Hate to see planes on the ground due to no fuel being purchased, or ships, or bullets being bought for the troops on the ground in Panjwi....see where I'm going with this?

Joe and Jane Q Public will not go for that kind of spending.

That's the very broad perspective from a tanker point of view.

Regards

Why ?

Are we in danger of a massive land invasion ?

How many friends are on your Facebook ?

500 tanks, thats 2000 soldiers required to crew them. You and 1999 friends joining the RCAC ?

We're also going to need more tank mechanics, more instructors......

"This year is going to be a busy year,to note half of you are posted.Flexability troops..."

- "The Commonwealth Tank Training Plan" - CTTP.

;D

- As a Reg Force soldier, I would rather see the money spent on an operational vehicle to revitalize our reserve regiments, believe it or not.

500 tanks...well id be doing pushups all day to get into the RCAC... So make that 1998 more people required. All kidding aside though I think it would be nice if we purchased the 20 that are on loan if the Germans would let us. Theyre modern and more than proved their worth in terms of armour and protection. I hope that blast that hit was a huge one. Not wishing ill harm but to show the Taliban that these machines can take a lot. That might nice and screw with their morale.

That's why we need a new Govt. Canada could fund a force of at least 300 thousand men strong. But just choose not to.

Damn right we do, but gotta start now!

And 1/3 would have to be on roads due to a chit for no uneven ground. ;D

I would settle to have a tank Sqn in Petawawa again.

So i ask you again, how are we going to pay for all that ?

As it is now i lose almost half my pay to taxes and other deductions from the Government, want me to give the other half ?

The govt could fund it if we wanted to, I'm saying we should do it, not that its happening.

Oh, please tell me how ...i'm dying to hear it. I'm serious, i want to hear your plan.

Braveheart said:
Well first of all he raises the funding to at least 2.2 % of the GDP.

Ok.....then what ?

Where is the extra money comming from ?

How are you going to convince Joe Six-pack waiting for 4 hours in an emergency room that the military should get more money ?

Because without the military there wouldn't even be a Joe six pack. Also the NATO average is more then what we spend now, which is brutal.
