The Great Gun Control Debate- 2.0

I know we are on a Canadian web forum but still I would like to hear members' opinion/s. Especially when it comes to GOA's difference/s from the Second Amendment Foundation and the much newer Firearm Policy Coalition.

It is too bad we don't have too many of these gun rights groups here in Canada, as I would really like to support them financially. This is an important issue to me. Thank you.

Thank you for making me aware of this group, Fish. However, I feel that I should focus my money like a laser beam and concentrate it on where it will return the best result on my money. I really don't think there are enough Canadians who care about gun rights for there to be any meaningful pro-gun movements here. In other words, I think we are too far gone. I think it's best to send my money south of the border, to help patriotic Americans secure their right. If they have their 2A, the "spill-over" effect will positively affect us.

There is 3 main firearms rights groups in Canada.

CCFR, NFA, and the CSSA. All have pros, also have cons (NFA for example had a lot of drama for a few years, not sure if that was resolved or not).

Donating to a American group equals absolutely no return for Canadians. Their second amendment does not have positive spill over to here, if anything it actively harms Canadians as it provides the ammunition for our antigun lobbies to use against us even though their laws are completely different.

If the Americans actually enforced their straw buying laws, and prevented the gun smuggling which is so prevalent we would have next to no gun crime here. Which in turn would result in nothing for our anti-gun groups to push.

Do what you like with your money but if your goal is to support Canadian firearm ownership those three groups (my preferred being CCFR) with provide the most bang for your buck.

Why would you use your hard earned Canadian money to help Americans "secure their rights" when 1. Americans already have greater and more free access to guns then we could ever dream of, 2. There are Canadian gun advocacy groups in Canada, and if you don't think the gun advocacy groups in Canada "worth it", then 3. There are a ton of non gun-related charitable organizations in Canada that could absolutely use your money and it would definitely have immediate and worthwhile effect.

Are you a billionaire? No? Then believing that ANY amount of money YOU could possibly donate would have a "laser beam" like effect on gun rights is, quit frankly, naive, and the fact you would rather donate your money to the NRA (for example) than Feed Nova Scotia (for example) is quite frankly, disappointing.
