I have seen the reserves referenced as the "MO" on another discussion board. Where did this particular nickname come from and what does it really mean?

Unoffical short term for the Militia (MOlitia). Mostly used by some Reservists with TI (time in) when referring to their status. ;)

SAS,Saturday‘s and Sunday‘s. ;)

another phrase you may hear might be ‘Toon‘

a more obscure reference to saturday morning cartoons.

as just like the cartoons we‘re only out on weekends.

and all i can say is there aint No Litia like the MO-Litia.

I‘m a Militia Plug and PROUD OF IT :cdn: :salute:

SWAT-SAS... Select Wednesdays and then Sometimes a Saturday.

heh, the mo.

Ah, yes ... the never-ending ESSO/Shell debate ...

(ESSO = Every Saturday and Sunday Off, vs. "We go further with less" ...)

As long as it‘s all in good fun ...

:D I think now days it would have to be ESSMO. With CTO days mandated it would be Every Saturday, Sunday, Monday Off. At least for the B Bumbles :blotto:

Reservists are also referred to, quite amusingly, as "rentals", that‘s my personal favourite.

An unofficial Regimental T-shirt sports "SWAT" in large letters across the back, under which it says in smaller print "Some Weekends and Thursdays".

"Just remember, there ain‘t no Lisha like the MO-lisha!"

haha redeye that one is awesome. why I never thought that one up for my unit I‘ll never know.
maybe I‘ll write that on my combat shirts.
that‘s just awesome.
I just look at the mo-lisha like that way it is. I‘ve started to see how it really works in the past year. I‘m going to miss the mo-lisha.

I‘ve known a few to be called "magicians", because everything they touched turned to **** !!! :D although that comment was usually directed at individuals, not the whole org.

I once heard

"In the reg force, they have covert ops. We in the militia have "photo ops." Good pictures to show our grandchildren."

The militia are "toons" because they‘re only on Saturday mornings.

The Reg Force are soap operas because they‘re on every day and everyone has a sad, sad story. ;)

Well...this is a waste of band width...

*footstep heard..getting fainter..door closing*

Regards

Combat medic....

Soap Oprah...Jebus, thats funny.
