I don’t have a source on the rely I saw
But apparently one of the online OSINT nerds identified that one of the A-50s moved recently and the other one is believed to be one that was damaged in recent memory.

Would it be reasonable for a serviceable and operational aircraft to go through some maintenance downtime that includes removing the engines?

Following on that: I cannot vouch for the accuracy of this but it’s a start point for people more knowledgeable than I.

The Russians have a different definition of "airworthy" than the rest of us.
