The War in Ukraine

Another blow to that one leg of the triad.

Going after those that maintain the bomber fleet might now be another angle to attack from.

According to the source, HUR's cyber corps accessed over 4.4 gigabytes (GB) of internal data, including official correspondence, personnel files, home addresses, resumes, purchase records, and closed meeting minutes.

The monkey paw curls, they get North Korean mortars... however. :ROFLMAO:

New footage released by Ukraine. I didn’t count individual planes but it’s a lot. 2 A-50s and several Tu-22s as well as Bears.

Russian strategic aviation had a no-good, horrible, very bad day.

Holy shit.

So I just tallied them up. As best as I can tell:
Tu-95 Bear bomber: 14
Tu-22 Backfire bomber: 16 (I may be off by one)
An-12 Cub transport: 1
A-50 Mainstay AWACS: 2
Il-78 Tanker: 1

Almost all look to be solid hits. I included a couple where the drone was clearly on a line of descent into the plane, skipped a few that were more ambiguous.

This is a full full third or so of what seems to be their publicly reported strategic bomber force.

It looks like they left the Tu-160s alone- less impact on the nuclear triad?

EDIT TO ADD: One caveat, some of these may not have been operational. We don’t know.

The question now is how many of the ones that didn't completely burn down because they weren't fueled/armed, ever get off the ground again? Noticed that a couple of the Backfires (especially) shown had signs of multiple hits, stuff that wouldn't show up on satellite imagery.

all the tires did was add fuel to the fires.

Not an aviator. What's with all the tires (if that's what they are) lined up along the aircraft?

IIRC it originally started becoming a practice on airfields closer to Ukraine in an attempt to defend against drone attacks. Obviously, that was never going to work, so now the practice has evolved into more like an old wives tale.

A terrorist attack on a crowd with ‘claymore drones’ is an eventual inevitability.
Quick and easy to do, can leave a few laying around to hit first responders too.

Some quick googling - a DJI T50 agricultural drone is a bit under $40k. Carries a 40kg payload for spraying. With autonomous control you could fly over any kind of large public gathering without fear of jamming and spray 40kg of whatever improvised chemical weapon you like. Expensive relative to claymore drones, but only one drone, and you could probably get all the chemicals you need legitimately as pesticides or cleaning chemicals without the suspicion of trying to make home made explosives.

Some more quick googling shows various options for small business loans and grants with options for up to a couple hundred thousand. Run two drones and you can even get the target country to finance it.
