By the looks of the owners, most of the current AIP subs are not operating too far from home plate so local suppliers and permanent hookups would work just fine for them. Our transit times to, for example, Bering Strait would be at least a week submerged (guesstimate) Our needs will probably require a unique solution for others to copyI think oldcpu brings up a good point on the logistical side of supplying an AIP equipped sub, handling these gases in a quantity far larger than ever before. Hopefully the RCN is going to take a long hard look at how other navies do it.
