I suspect the skew in results for conservatives reflects a concentration of the minority of Canadians who want to be annexed by Americans.

Blair, a "lefty"? As the leader who was the face (and prime mover) of "New Labour", he was far from being the stereotypical trade union socialist of the "old" Labour Party. More aptly, a 'new school lefty' - from the right (i.e., posh) schools - in other words, a centrist.

A larger set might not fight on Canada's behalf (eg. abroad for NATO) under any circumstances also.
