Lot of talk about this (the messaging coming out of the WH over the shutdown) toeing the line of a Hatch Act violation, if not outright.

The man known as the QAnon shaman is suing President Donald Trump for $40 trillion in a lawsuit that also includes Elon Musk, T-Mobile, Warner Bros. and more.

In the 26-page complaint, Jacob Chansley claims he is the “true” American president and accused film directors Christopher Nolan and James Cameron of plagiarizing his writing.

He also accused the National Security Agency of using actress Michele Rodriguez’s likeness to persuade him to use his “shamanic” abilities to deal with “other-worldly matters.”

Mike Johnson held a presser where he held up a placard showing health care spending ad stated:

“You can see the final total there, $192.8 billion of your hard-earned taxpayer dollars that Chuck Schumer and the Democrats want to give back to illegal aliens.”

However, if you look at the placard (who's title reads "The Democrat Continuing Resolution Spends nearly $200 Billion on Healthcare Subsidies for Illegal Immigrants and Other Non-Citizens"), only one of the line items even mentions Illegal Immigrants: Ending Enhanced FMAP for Emergency Care for Illegal Immigrants". This is only $28 Billion. Not $200 Billion. Sure, the PLACARD says this is a list for illegal immigrants and non-citizens, but they put illegal immigrants first and more importantly, Johnson's statement above attributes the entire $200 billion to illegal immigrants.

You may be right; I'm not going to research it; I'm not going to go hunting for lies; there's no value starting long lists of incorrect statements. They're easy to find.

To back up a bit, much of what I read comes across as ignorance rather than lies. People, including people in government, simply don't know legislative details. What typically happens is this: some staffer or other wonk digs and finds an offensive provision; it gets passed by word of mouth; probably as early as the second- or third-hand hearing it's already mangled. Some staffer/wonk on the other side does the research and produces an "Aha!", and the whole "team" uses that to evade the substance of a legitimate criticism, playing the "if this detail is wrong, everything is wrong" game.

At bottom, on this particular issue it's a fact that some people end up getting care at taxpayer expense, and some are in the country illegally. Republicans are using it as a wedge; the Democrat position on health care is approximately not-one-step-back so they end up defending everything and looking like fools also.

Every day in my reading I usually come across whatever the keynote statements of the day are by politicians on both sides. Often they're so ridiculous, on matters which are approximately common knowledge among politically-interested people, that I don't even have to go searching for such-and-such-an-Act, or other dispositive information - I recognize the false and misleading parts.

At some point at least a few decades back politicians learned that they can bullshit all they want with little or no consequence, and that most people will never learn more than the opening statements of an issue. A story can do a complete 180 and there will still be true believers who don't realize the early reports were wrong. It happens here often enough, and I see it all the time in the fragments people post of news anchor puppets and talking-point panel guests.
