Updated Army Service Dress project

Scuttlebutt from a CPO1.
It appears that a certain CWO on the Dress Committee wants RCN officers who are on a CAF parade to wear a white sword belt over their jacket. Said CWO wants an "Uniform" look.

1. CAF parades are far from "Uniform" looking; multicoloured coats, different caps, wedges and berets, and different cap badges.
2. Some rifle regiments have black sword belts and black gloves
3. Armoured regiments have their sword belts under their tunics as well
4. How many different types of drill do the regiments really have?

How about the mud monkeys play in their own sandbox. The RCN will show up at a parade on time, sober and fully clothed. I call that a win any day. :sneaky:

Why is the CAF dress committee speaking to anything environmental? The various sorts of operational and specialist dress, absolutely, but seems like Nos. 1-3 should be left entirely to their respective environmental committees.

TIL. I thought LI in PPCLI denoted rifle regiment traditions. The more you know.
I was in Esquimalt in 1969 where 1 QOR was stationed at Work Point Barracks. They were in the process of moving out. 1 QOR went onto the Supp list but many of its people were rebadged as 3 PPCLI (which had existed during Korea but been disbanded afterwards. 3 PPCLI moved to Germany in 1970.

Rifles are very distinct entities from light infantry and distinct again from line infantry, guards, highland etc etc. in the older British organizations.

How do we have people with so little to do that they can form standing dress committees focused on aesthetics?
Because its a tertiary duty they perform to preserve some semblance of control on our uniformity and branding?

We're a professional military, not an airsoft hobby club.
