Every stage of your application has to be assessed and approved for "further processing". So, for example, you send in your initial application. That initial information will be assessed and from that assessment a decision will be made as to whether your application moves on to the next step (aka further processing) or not. Next step would be scheduling for you to bring in original documents and writing a CFAT. Each step requires assessment for "further processing". Does this application move forward or not?
In short, you are either given a "sorry about your luck" message, or "an awaiting approval for further processing", or "you have been approved for further processing". The last one being the one that generally includes instructions for your next step.
